This jam was amazing, quite intense for me hahah

But I loved it, I gave it everything and although I was able to complete around 15% of my game, I'm still happy I did it ;D

Here are my learnings:

  1. How to create a dialogue system, which I also learned:
  2. Dialogue individua text moldure, speakers photo, text box opening animation for each character
  3. Dialogue with options and different dialogue paths.
  4. Call actions at certain  time during the dialogue
  5. A reliable 2D controller (able to walk on slopes)
  6. Improved my art \o/

It's been awesome! In game jam is usually a create call to create puzzle games or skills based with small levels game, because you can just create the core and add more levels and polished. But I've been wanting to create a small adventure more focused on the history for some time now, and there was no better place them FullTime GameDev JAM ;D

Please, let me now what you've learn from this amazing adventure!

I'm glad you learned so much from the Game Jam! :D

For me, the things I learned were:

  1. Proper time management.
  2. How to effectively fight scope-creep.
  3. How to work in a high-speed environment where results was the most important aspect.
  4. How to build and export WebGL games.

And as a bonus; I learned I really hate writing sloppy code.

For me, the Game Jam was a big mix of a LOT of hard work and just a little bit of fun. To be honest, the Jam only became fun right around the 45 hour mark where my project really started to come together. :c

But all in all, I am thrilled I was able to completely my game within the 48 hours and I consider the project to be a complete success (considering its my first Game Jam). :D

Thanks for sharing, mate.
Wow you've worked 45 hours???? That's insane!

But I understand the hate for sloppy code!

On the last hours everything think was public, dragged around from the inspector or event static hahaha I hate it so much

No problem! :D

Well, the actual development hours was closer to 24-28.

I liked to take short breaks and I made sure to sleep. :D

Hue hue, I know your pain so well.  x3

The amount of random scripts I had lying around because of scrapped designs or code is amazing. The project's code and organization literally looks like a bomb went off in an Indie Game Developer Studio's intern stairwell.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts - and read about your experience! Seems like we all learned so much! <3
This was my 3rd game jam, but 1st without a team and 1st in Unity. My goal  for this jam was to tell  a story through the game,  I think I somewhat accomplished that.

Here are some other things:

1. How to use  and combine graphic assets found on the Internet. I merged pixel art style with the artwork from some old postcards :0
2.  How to prevent the player from breaking the game >:)
3. How to design a level - that was really fun; I wish I'd spent more time doing that
4. Started learning how to create a dialogue system, but couldn't get it to work the way I wanted so I got rid of it :')
5. How to fix LOTS of bugs in a short time - there are still a lot left tho lol

Although I was able to finish my submission, the weekend was quite stressful :') Next time I'd recommend myself to do at least a little bit of exercise in-between work to keep myself alive :'D
