Theme interpretation
The theme of moonshot inspired me to make a shooting game with sci-fi lasers in which the main goal of the game would be to reach the moon without dying, which mixed 2 different definitions of the word moonshot.

Nice game, congrats!

I think you could make it a bit fairer if the enemies have friendly fire. Also, consider adding an explosion for those ships, damaging the surrounding ones.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for checking out my game! I think friendly fire is cool, the only problem is that the algorithm that determines enemy ship movement is the same for all of them and they all end up fusing together, which creates the strat of moving in circles and letting them kill each other. Turning off friendly fire was the only way I saw of fixing that. I really like the idea and feedback though!

Yeah, I have a spaceship shooter game from another jam and making the movement and fire logic for enemies was really hard (and I don't think it was really good hah).

Nice arcade game. I liked the upgrade system a lot, although found it a bit frantic to use. Perhaps being able to pause and use it would be better, or having a pause between waves to let you get your health back. I thought having the asteroids to use as cover was a nice idea. With some more "juice" to make your shots more impactful, and a more interesting background, you could have a really nice game.

Alright, cool! Thanks for checking out my game and thanks for your feedback!

Thanks for your feedback! I really enjoyed watching it. I left a comment on there with some explanations, hope they will help!

Nice game, the pacing was good. It said wave 1/5, but enemies just kept coming and coming haha
Also I thought I was supposed to not touch the asteroids, but it was all a ruse! I just bumped into them like a game of bumper cars :D
I had fun overall, a good game jam entry :)

Developer

Yeah, I thought the physics of bouncing asteroids was pretty fun as well! Thanks for your feedback, and thank you for checking out my game!

This game is actually very well built. I think you need to take more consideration into compatibility. In my browser, the background is not covering the whole space and things look a bit out of size? Other than that this is quite well executed.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! Yeah, since this was my first time using a game engine I figured I would just stick to learning from a strictly 1080p fullscreen experience, which compromised compatibility. I will work on that in the future! Thank you for checking out my game!

The gameplay is fun, the menu design is nice, but adding more particle effects, stars to the game would make it much more beautiful. Keep working on this game, it can be improved <3

Sound effects were cute and enjoyable.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I'm currently working on more sound effects, music, and particles, but I wasn't able to fit it into my game in time.

DEVELOPER NOTE:

There is a known bug that only happens with the browser/web version. At the end of the game (wave 5/5, 10 minutes after the game starts) the browser version of the game crashes. It is supposed to be the ending of the game that should show an animation and return to the main menu, but in the browser/web version it crashes. This doesn't happen on the downloadable export or in the game engine itself, just the browser export, so I must assume it is a game engine bug.

There are a few other minor browser-only bugs, so if you want the full experience I would recommend downloading my game. Thanks for checking out my game!

Gameplay: The controls were nice and the space to upgrade was super useful. Speeking of upgrade the upgrade system was nice too.

Graphics: The graphics were good. I liked the pixely space things.

Audio: Intense music would have been nice this is a nice easy music maker if you want it.

Innovation: Not the most innovative.

Theme: I guess its a moonshot survive all the waves.

Overall: Amazing game, this is even more impressive because its your first time with the engine.

Can you try my game?

I was on wave 5/5 but then the game just stopped. My computer wasnt even making noise.

Yeah I was planning on doing it but since I was soloing it I just ran out of time. I am making it right now, thanks for the resources!

For first time using a game engine I think you nailed it, the controls etc all work smoothly and the asteroids add a different element. Next time I think u can make a more complex concept for the mechanics/goal. Overall, good job :)

I did have some issues with the screen size in the browser version but I got the gist I think haha

Developer

Ay, thanks. My game is very much optimized for a downloaded 1080p fullscreen experience, so yeah the browser version isn't optimal. Thanks for the feedback!

Great game, fun to play.

The asteroid physics were really cool.

Did you do the artwork yourself?

Developer(+1)

Yes, I did all of it myself! I tried to solo it. This was my first time making pixel art as well, and I think it turned out pretty nicely, although it is very very time consuming to do all of the art and programming myself.

Submitted(+1)

yeah, I thought the art looked really clean.

And you're right, Jams ARE very time consuming.  I'm a bit sleep deprived after the last few days :)
