Facing Epic Steam, Google Moon, Metaleptic…
Use your brain to shoot'em nasty ads.
This little poem says everything you have to know. Metaleptic Moon was produced for the Game Off Game Jam 2020. It's basically an ad shooter, recursively an advertisement for a recursive game engine in development to be unveiled soon: the Metaleptic engine.

As other have commented, a bit confusing and a lot of flashy things on the screen hahaha. Also it seems there is no win vs the "big G", kinda true ;)
Brilliant ambient! The music works weirdly well with the graphics and adds so much “buying pressure” to the player. This is almost like an art piece more than a functioning / playable game (please take this as a compliment). I can totally see this being featured in a documentary or a 2020s game museum. Mind-blowing!
This is probably the funniest game I've played on this jam! :'D
I love it!
this is soo bad, its acually good
At first this game was very confusing! I enjoyed it once I understood what's happening :)
Nice idea, a bit confusing but I think that's what you expect for the players!
A dream come true. Wish had that superpower irl. Google killed me though :(
Nice and interesting idea. GO META! loved it
Interesting idea, although I'm not quite sure how it relates to the theme- but it's fun to play and the audio is nice. Something that might have helped is if the enemies had some distinction between the background and each other; sometimes they become incredibly hard to see. Some primer animation to show that an enemy is shooting would also be helpful. All in all, fun! Loved the bright colors.
Interesting feedback, I'll keep the special conditions in mind (highlighting shoot, first appearance of ennemies). The relation to the theme is quite simple: if you get to the end of the level, you literally shoot the moon! lol
Gave it a try! Cool stuff, at the beginning a bit confusing as on what to do haha!
Thanks for playing! It's meant to be as confusing as surfing the web, you know, with all the nasty ads ;)
