Very cool art style and the gameplay reminded me of a more relaxing arcade type shooter
Fun little game. I would've loved some power-ups and some way or marker to return to the main ship.
The game play was simple to learn and the original BGM was a good choice! One of my biggest iff would be the laser being way to loud for me XD Not certain if there was a menu to turn the volume down. apart from that this game is fun~

Wow - good stuff for a first game and a first game jam, huge respect from my side! It is an overall great submission and it all fits together nicely! I am a big fan of space shooter genres and space genres again, so I really liked the game.
If you are already familiar with gamedevHQ, you might want to consider doing the 2d space ship tutorial/certification as you might learn a lot of stuff you could include in your game (ie. powerups, enemy waves, etc.).
Again, amazing work for your first jam! You should celebrate!
