Fun idea to mix papers please with a cooking game :)

It would be nice to be able to serve more than one customer at a time - something that makes cooking games really fun is how frantic it can get trying to manage multiple orders.

Good job!

Gotta love the inspiration from Papers, Please, and make it a cooking game. I like the particle effects for the cooking (actually makes me jealous cause I wanted to but didn't have time to implement particles for my game which is also a cooking game)

I will say though, the gameplay doesn't work. The idea of serving 1 client at a time doesn't make sense for a cooking game. Cooking games usually involve serving multiple people at once and multi-tasking to make the game stressful and fun. People make their order, you place their food on the stove, and you wait 10-15 seconds while not doing anything else (???). That could be solved if you had more tasks to do than just cook the food.

The money management inspired by Papers, Please is a great idea, but if I had to take inspiration from Papers, Please, I would stop at that. Like I said, the window opening is cool, and layout too, but you do need to have multiple orders at once to manage.

I also had a bug where a uncooked phantom chicken sprite I could drag around but not serve or cook was stuck on the screen, which was weird and confusing.

I gotta ask, did you record the cooking sound effect by yourself? I am under the impression you did. There are plenty of websites online you can find royalty-free SFX and use them in your game, or edit them however you like. If you record the stuff yourself, you need an audio interface and a mic w/ filter for it, so you can avoid picking up other sounds and try to record sounds as professionally as possible. I used one for my project to record the music, and its not that expansive to get.

Going with the Papers please theme, the lack of music was a bit unsettling. I would have enjoyed ambient sounds like in Papers , Please to sell the theme.

Anyway, good job on submitting for the game jam!

It took me a while to figure out, what meat is depicted how. And why the customers complaint about raw ones.

Thanks for playing, updated description to hopefully help with the confusion

Very fun and addictive cooking game! The balance is perfect. Love how you even deduct for truck payment and fuel... you could probably randomize these a little bit.

Would be very fun to try to take more than one customer's order at a time also. Great game though!

That was actually in the initial plan, but had to cut it cause I wasn't the best at managing my time this jam...Maybe add it in an update later! Thanks for playing!
