Thank you for giving it a try nonetheless.

Frustrations like these should have been catched in game testing (which fell short due to procrastination + low mental energy in March).

I’ve got some ideas here on how to add Quality-of-Life improvements after the voting session.

A jumping ship shouldn’t happen. Hm. Except directly after clicking (because the script has to evaluate to compute the new position).

I was experimenting with a new way to store state in this entry because the last game jams I participated in made me realise that HTML-based games are restricted by the iframe they’re loaded in. Here I put the state basically in the URL (which isn’t exposed in the browser but can be modified in the DevTools). Like, you know, push the boundaries.

I even wrote itch Support in the beginning of March to be more detailed in their documentation but never got a reply.

Have you seen the comments on the game page?

Yeah, I understand that the limitations Itch puts on you. Been there before.

The ghost image is an interesting idea. I will need to look into how to combine it with the PRNG I’m using. It should be doable with a little refactoring *methinks

I even documented the contrast ratios but haven’t looked at them during the design ._.

That sounds like a good idea. Will update after the voting period ended.

Yeah, looks like a feature to protect against fingerprinting. It’s a shame that Godot „crashes” however.

I couldn’t find an issue on it.

Kudos to Doubi for highlighting this idea.

I’m eager to receive feedback. Actually, how the wind plays out is something I kind of happy with. Maybe it would need better telepathing?

Sure.

So the arrows point towards the general direction you want to steer the ship. So long as you have bread. Now you could have wind in the opposing direction or coming from a side and therefore changing the trajectory.

That the treasure jumps is right. I wasn’t finally sure whether I want to have it stay in one position for long.

What a chill game.

There are a few things I can see make it even more fun: have a device for subsea exploration (I used the strandbeest thingy).

Allow for a little acceleration. That could also be happening by introducing some wind that could be captured. Travelling between the island felt a little too long sometimes.

If you would offer a way to buy in chunks of five or ten this game would lead to more agency.

I made some bucks :)

At times it was difficult to me to tell apart my ship from the others. But I like the mechanics. Great job!

Firefox / LibreWolf doesn’t support WebGL but Chromium works fine.

GLctx is undefined

Lovely. Thank you for making it.

Firefox / LibreWolf errored out with

The following features required to run Godot projects on the Web are missing: WebGL2 - Check web browser configuration and hardware support

It runs in Chromium though.

I haven’t figured out the controls quite yet but I enjoyed the tune. Applause to your family. My kid also showed interest when he watched me test my game. Guess this Microstudio is something to look into next then.

Could get it to work on Chromium.

I want to call him Baelin. (not a Rickroll attempt, promise!)

FediJam 3 community · Created a new topic Dev Logs?

I was wondering whether I’m the only one keeping a devlog while noodling on the jam.

Could also be a Fediverse thread :-)

Learning from each other is a fun angle on joining a jam in my view.

Checked the repository out and imported it into Godot v3.5.2. Godot informs me that your project was created with a newer version. Would you mind to share what version you used?

I can run another version in parallel.

There might come a cooperation with https://doubi88.itch.io/fediexpress as a result of this jam. We’ll see.

Looking forward to that. You can ping me here (I have e-mail notifications to notice them) or on https://fedi.jaenis.ch/@andre (I also am the person behind @games if you prefer that one).

This felt a little creepy (I maybe shouldn’t have played it right before going to bed).

But it has the potential to make me grab a pen and a notebook and try out every possible path (I have reached ending 1 and 4). Just to explore what is possible.

I have DOSBox on Linux here but currently no clue how to load the game into it. Would you be so kind to point me to an instruction on how you did it?

Look ma! I can make it rain :)

3D Sokoban!

Love it.

Had to train a little bit to get the timing right.

Nice little game.

The things falling from the sky extend the timer, right?

Yeah, I tried Firefox on Linux. Had to make the downloaded file executable to run it. Worked a little bit better.

What a calm little game.

Thank you for making it.

Love it! Feels like a combination of snake and a management game.

Well done!

Ah, must have missed that. Thank you for the clarification.

I know how overwhelming it can be to learn a new system. I applaud you to submit an entry nonetheless.

I don’t like shooting people.

Hey, I managed to play most of the levels!

Took a little to figure out I can use WASD instead of D-pad on a laptop. J was jumping. What is Run mapped to?

If I don’t have a GameBoy at hand, how would I run this in an emulator?

I pulled it off (with Python). If you want to take a stab at it, it would be my excuse to learn Godot :)

Hm, my helicopter got stuck q_p

It is an interesting idea to help each other. I like it.

I was looking for that art style for a game a few years ago. Love it!

I clipped through the world and didn’t find my way back. Halp!

As an European I had no idea how far the different stations are apart. But I managed to just make it so slightly with 365 points 8)

If I knew for how long I have to travel I could adjust the stock better. Perhaps even have more agency in what I want to trade.

Really fun game.

Personally I struggled with the double jam (so I haven’t made it back to the tavern). It would have helped me if the notes I pile up would allow me to stand upon them as an alternative means to reach higher ground.

I really like how you lend a hand through the various levels.

In other jams I participated there was a topic and participants were encouraged to write up something and link it in the topic. This way we could learn from each other.

You as host would be in the position to encourage people to take notes to their blog :)
