Cute animations, great gameplay (I wish I had a mouse with scroll wheel.) I also wish it was possible to throw away some of the ingredients you hold. One of my favorite games in this jam actually. Good work.

Thanks for playing! Really appreciate your comments!

For switching items, I thought about players with no scroll wheel, so I added press numbers 1-8 to switch as well. But same as the scroll wheel, it's not a great system since during the fights and trying to get to the specific ingredient is sort of hard. I'll definitely try to change this item system in future updates.

Fun game with cute animations! I liked the bullet hell aspect thrown in from the mushrooms, made the whole thing very frantic.

Good job :)

The game has very cute animations and characters, which I enjoy, and the concept is very cool.

killing enemies to gain ingredients to cook is very nice,  but the implementation is iffy. The enemies are way too numerous, and the ranged attacks can be annoying to dodge or destroy. The enemies don't damage that much, and you can cook to heal, but I think having less enemies with easier to dodge attacks but more devastating damage would have worked better.

I really don't like how you have to clear the enemies before carrying the cooked plate to the counter, since them damaging you makes you drop the entire meal. Even if you clear the enemies, they spawn so fast that you'll still be at the mercy of spawns and hope to get lucky an egg doesn't spawn on the right side when you're carrying that plate.

The game just feels way too chaotic to figure out if you have the right ingredients, and the enemies are too tanky for their numbers.

I had a weird bug on level 3 that made my character exit out of the game screen, and I couldn't die or come back, so implementing a restart feature could be nice, otherwise I can get softlocked and have to restart all over to get to that point.

On the bright side, I respect the tutorial menu a lot. Most jam games give tutorial instructions outside the game in text format, or not at all. I vouch for good and engaging tutorials in game, short and slick, that give streamlined info about the game, and yours is a very nice tutorial with good demonstrations with the animated sprites.

The idea of the game (innovation-wise) is very cool, but I think the difficulty of the game is unpolished. If you went back, I'm pretty sure you could make this game shine bright! Well done on submitting a game for the jam!

Thank you so much for this thorough feedback! I really really appreciate it!!! I will definitely tone down the difficulty. Many of my friends played it and said the same thing. I did try to implement limited time power-ups by eating dishes but I didn't have enough time to implement any indicators to show that the chef has been powered up with higher slash damage or knife throwing cooldown reduced or you can throw three knives at a time or the knife does piercing damage. The idea was to cook and eat first, and maybe eat two or three dishes to stack the powerups then clearing out a way to the window would be easier. But yeah, I'll definitely try to balance out the difficulty/number of enemies per round. As for the bug, thanks for letting me know. I'll look into that. I didn't really implement any barriers on the sides of the kitchen so that might contribute to that bug.

Your words are very sincere and encouraging and I truly appreciate your thorough feedback! I'll definitely keep on polishing the game so that next time you try it this game will be more cooked well-done than raw xD

by the way, I did notice the powerups for eating, but since this was so chaotic and the powerup mechanic wasn't explained thoroughly, I couldn't really make use of it. I do remember eating something that made me go faster tho hahaha, if only I had remembered that recipe!
