Just submitted my entry ...

... I'm probably the first to do so.

Unfortunately, when I originally signed up for the jam, I misread the 10 day period as being a start date of 10th May, thinking I'd have plenty of time to come up with an entry, but only realized my mistake a couple of weeks ago, which meant I only had a few days as I'm leaving on holiday tomorrow. I've tried to squeeze time to put something together, but as I've been busy sorting things out for the trip, this was literally mostly written during breakfast time over the past five days. I knew I couldn't get close to a finished game in that time, which gave me the idea of writing a game including unfinished games :)

It's been fun anyway - it's my first jam and I'll definitely try again - next time I'll read the rules fully  before signing up :)

I look forward to seeing everyone else's entries when I get back.

I think there are a couple others that submitted their entry a few days back, I tried the ones that I saw and they were fun. I think a lot of us will have unfinished or not well made games because of the time limit, but that is part of the fun! I finished my game just a bit ago as well but I do know it has some lighting issues. I hope you had fun making a game during the jam, even if it is unfinished.

Thanks Andrew, yes I just saw some post from others that have submitted already. I wasn't expecting to have a fully formed game at the end of the jam, but would liked to have time add some other ideas I had, polish up and to fix the bugs, but I certainly had fun with the time I had.

Here's a link to the game: Pixel Purgatory by dTMSr (itch.io)

It's a windows download, sorry. I tried a WebGL build but the sound didn't work for the first scene and sides were cropped.

I don't know about the sound, but you should be able to adjust the size of the game screen with unity in the build settings. My webgl build had lighting issues,  I believe you should be able to see my game by clicking on the "submitted" button next to my name.

I know you said it was unfinished, but I like it, it was funny. I only did a quick look, so I plan to play it again after the deadline. Also, can you link the post where it said that you cannot have free unity assets in the source? I didn't realize but can't find the post. I saw the comment on the link

The post I was referring to was Open source - Unity asset store - The GameDev.tv Game Jam 2022 - Free Course For All Submissions! community - itch.io

Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my game.

I just had a quick go of you game - freaked me out for a second with the creepy doll face :)

Thanks!

I only just got my player moving this afternoon guys. I think I only really finalised the idea behind my game loop this morning, yesterday it was just a rough idea. Still need to see if its actually playable/fun. I have enemies to create, pathing, projectile firing, damage, loot, a timer, and a score to implement. 3 days left. I reckon I can pull something out of the bag. It wont look amazing but itll work...

It is a bit hard to come up with a really good or refined idea in a game jam due to the time limit. I hope to see your submission so that I can play it!

Hey everyone!! Can I keep changing my game after submitting the first version? I have a prototype with the mechanics that I want in the game... And because of my 9-5 job, I'm not sure if I can't put much more effort in the game. I want to submit it, but in the hope that with some more time I can make some changes. Thanks everyone!

I would think that you can because you can edit the page after submitting your game. I can't say for sure though because I submitted mine  in its final version
