Hi - great looking art and I would love to team up with you. I have an idea for a game that I've been working on (i.e. I have a rough prototype) that I'd like to work on and submit to this jam. I'm thinking of potentially expanding it to a commercial game but will see what kind of player feedback it gets from the jam. Have a look at my other projects and jam entries on my profile. The last one, Treasure Quest, is where I did the pixel art myself, so you can see exactly where you'd be of value! Let me know if you're interested. I probably won't require any animation or sprite sheets but I will need a main menu screen, some UI buttons, and mainly some stationary props most of which I've already had a go at but which need refinement. This seems to be right in line with the great work you've published here.

whew - Lee the voting period and the releasing of the results are way too long in my opinion. It's nice to have the time to make the game over 4 weeks or so and thats why I join this jam, but a standard 7 days to vote and instant release of the results like the majority of other jams would be great and would keep people interested. It's been dead for weeks around here.

is it just me or are there no scores and results now that the jam has ended??

One of the best games I've played this jam - maybe even the best game. I love point and click adventures and my own game is a simple point and click, but this was really something else. I loved the writing and the feelings you evoke as you click on everything and start to piece together what happened - it's really masterful. This was great - 5/5 and exceptionally well done.

I like the arcade feel that you created in this game. The graphics were really cool and the sound was good. I think it could have been slightly more challenging if you introduced a 'life' or hitpoints and made the enemies do damage but adding the timer in is a good counter to this because it made the focus more on getting through the game as fast as you could. Nice entry and good job!

This was a charming game. I enjoyed the graphics and the music/sound and I particularly liked all the little details you added to the game. I always felt like I needed to open "just one more chest", so even though the gameplay is really simple, its also very addictive somehow. So I got the code at the end: RAKTR-PLIIRX-AKPVIZ - however, I have no idea what it means or how to decode it! Great game, great entry, well done.

This was SUPER challenging and difficult for me, but I love the graphics and sound and your just commitment to the theme lol. I haven't found the Sapphire yet so I'm going to need to keep playing...

Ok Edit: I found the secret saphire. I needed a hint for the password but managed everything else  without hints. 5/5 - exceptional game. The best I've played in the jam. I hope everyone gives it a chance because I think for many they might bail at the challenge.

Thou hast really charming graphics in this game and some cool mechanics! It's very well done. I came across this game in my quest to play every game that has 'quest' in the name and luckily yours does because this was a good experience for me. I really like this art style and I would be keen to see how you could develop from here given more time. My only criticism is that firing the arrows was a bit challenging in terms of getting the direction right - the enemies themselves were not too hard or aggressive but sometimes it took me a while to actually hit them! Great entry.

Took me a little bit of time to get the hang of moving and shooting as it can be quite difficult, but the health the player has is very generous so it never felt like there was too much threat from the other enemies. I collected all the letters and finished the game but I didnt have enough time to read what they all spelt out but I feel like it was a lot more than 'feijoa' ? I think to improve this for the next jam you enter is consider firing a bullet to wherever the mouse pointer is - that would make that mechanic alot more manageable for the player. This game is begging for an electronic-type of background music which would just make it feel awesome. Also I'd consider lowering player health from something like 100 to 10 maybe, and when you die you either lose some letters or need to start again. This introduces some challenge and also replayability (particularly if you introduced a timer for the speed aspect). These are just some considerations for you to think about - I think your game has a lot of potential. Thanks for your submission - I had fun playing it.

This has the makings of a good platformer with some core mechanics implemented really well, like the classic double-jump, dash, and wall-hang. I like the way that you've staged the hints/tips for the tutorial as you progress in the level - thats all very professional really so great job. That said I did find myself running around trying to figure out what to do and it wasn't totally obvious that the goal was or where I should be looking, so a bit more sign-posting in that regard might be helpful. Good entry and well done. I hope you keep building on this.

This was fun. I played it all the way to the end. It's missing some sound effects here and there, like when you attack and die but the music is really really cool. Loved the graphics, really enjoyed the riddles and puzzles, enjoyed the challenge of the barrels to try and traverse the fire. Its great. This is the kind of game that if you add to it and keep building, you could probably upload to a webgame platform and actually monetize. Good job.

I liked the mechanic where the more fish you eat the bigger you get. I presume that getting bigger is what scares the enemies away. Good job on limiting your color palette. Would be great to get a few tougher levels if you decide to keep iterating on this game.

Really loved the graphics and visuals and that eerie haunting music was a very nice accompaniment.  It was difficult to read the cards and I know there were a lot of them but if they could have been a bit bigger then my old eyes might have had an easier time. I'm sure the game will do well in the jam - well done to you on a good submission.

I loved the music, and the graphics and the general ambiance you created. Your dialogue system works pretty well but I was sad that the game ended so quickly after I fooled the troll. I would love to see a bit more so I hope you keep building on it. I loved the use of lighting as well to create the great mood.

you know what I really appreciate? Custom mouse pointers. So few games incorporate these and when they do they dont get noticed, but I noticed. Also as someone learning and improving in pixel art, this art is exceptional. The story is also really, really good for a game jam entry and I loved the puzzles. Not often you see these kinds of adventure games in game jams. I'm inspired by your simply inventory system because I can see how you would have made it work and I could probably do something similair in my own game. Poor Dr Kara though. Playing this felt a bit like I was doing 2D Starfield. It's a really great submission and the premise for a great game so really well done. I think ocassionally I got a few incorrect text prompts coming up or coming up 2 times and at times it felt a bit odd not being able to move or skip-to-the-end of a text prompt, but these are really minor considerations in what is overall excellent.  great job.

This was cute, had fun. Wasn't clear how to do an attack but I seemed to kill the enemies when I clicked on them anyway. Good job.

I love puzzle games but the moving of the obelisk seemed a bit tricky - I had no idea where to move them or what I was trying to achieve there so in the game itself it might be a good idea to add some subtle indications to the player on where they need to go, unless I totally missed it. I think a bit more sign-posting would be great. Even though I couldnt do it, I did find the hieroglyphics and the room where the key is located but I didn't find any rosetta stone so I think I'm just missing this one key thing in order to complete the game. So this game is obviously focussed on mechanics and I appreciate it for that because there are a couple of good mechanics in the game like the wall jumping, and clearing the obelisk and decryption puzzles. I think if you added a basically animated character and some background music and a couple of sound effects it would really take this game to another level. I hope you keep working on it or incorporate it into a larger project because I love the foundation and the setting for it. Good job.

Edit: Seeing as how this is a Unity game I thought I would check your code to see if I could see how the obelisk puzzle was setup lol, however the repo is not there! Check it out when you get the time.

I had fun with this. The first level could actually catch a few people out who dont realise the kind of mechanics you've implemented. I got through quite a few levels but one of the things that you are missing is a Level indicator either somewhere on the screen during a level or when you complete the level it could say "level x completed". I got stuck on a level where I couldn't see any platforms and at that point it got really hard - from a design perspective maybe there could be a more obvious (albeait subtle) clue as to where you should be looking when you get to the harder levels. But I really enjoyed the game. Thought the art was really charming, I loved the wall-jump mechanics and the moving from one side of the screen to the other - which made me think about how I want to solve puzzles and that demonstrates some good design principles. Well done to you guys and great submission.

Ok so Abby I can see that this is your very first Game Jam entry over here on itch, so congrats and well done for partaking in the jam - that is awesome. From my own game submission I know what its like when a mechanic doesn't quite register the way you want it to, so I appreciate how you incorporated that potential feedback into the game. I personally had a flawless experience where the doors worked just fine. For next time I would say get some free background music you can incorporate into the game, and get a couple of sound effects - 1 for when you move a step, and 1 for when you fail at a maze and get sent back to the start. Maybe 1 more jingle for when you complete the game. Just these 3-4 sounds will add a lot of atmosphere and feeling to the game. I thought your pixel art was charming and it was easy enough for me to figure out what everything was. Keep working at it and keep joining jams!

This was really fun. I loved the whole ambiance that you created. The music was really fitting with the theme and the environment you created and I really enjoyed the wall-bounce mechanic for the arrows, and I always love the use of light as a mechanic (have incorporated this into some of my own jam games in the past). It might have been slightly improved if my little Ninja dude walked a bit faster but thats a minor consideration. Great job.

Needs some work obviously but its a start. The graphics are the best part, it feels like there are more interactions that were planned for the game when you interact with the animals but nothing happens. For a Unity game it would be great to enable the full-screen mode. Keep working and learning and you'll continue to improve. Great start.

Well done on getting a good looking game with just 4 colors. That was great. Took me back to when I was a kid (showing my age here...) when my fist adventures in gaming were with games just like this. Gameplay was challenging at times and I needed to restart levels a couple of times. Music was a bit jarring so I appreciate that you included the ability to turn it off. Overall I think this is a neat little game.

I love playing poker so this was really fun. I got up to my 3rd cat on this run and I will come back to play more a bit later. I did find that when I get a good hand like a straight, the cats dont appear to know whats good for them. When I'm raising $30+ they just stick with me and I take all their money! I enjoy that though. Probably up there with the most fun I've had this jam I reckon.

This is a great little games and some of the challenges are actually quite tricky - I need to go back and do them again. That said I THINK it becomes reasonably clear what direction the investigation is going fairly early on in the challenges. I think its an excellent interpretation of the theme, I love what you did with the game graphically and this is actually multiple mini-game inside one overall game so the gameplay is great too. Great job.

This game has a lot of potential. When I click the Play button the first/entry type level appears to be exceptionally small in the top left corner. Then when I get to the next/first proper level is sizes up correctly. Not sure why thats happening. Then when playing the actual game, how do I restart/respawn after I died? The game seemed to continue but I was most certainly very dead lol. But the actual gameplay and premise is cool. I love this kind of art and the levels are cool. I thought the control scheme was fine and actually is my preference. I like that the dead bodies block bullets which is a cool mechanic. Overall I had fun playing. It needs a few tweaks here and there but its the base of something really cool that if you polish a bit you could upload to a web-games platform if you wanted. Good job!

Amazing! Thank you for playing. Just on 6 minutes is great. I hope you enjoyed it :)

Thanks. What your experiencing there is a collider thats preventing him from moving the way he SHOULD be moving. I need a better solution for this kind of game, like a 2D Nav Mesh which was not natively available at the time. There are actually just great packages available for free that make this kind of game much more workable so I'm going to check those out. Thanks so much for playing. I definitely think I should continue to build this with the next scene being the dark passageway behind the door :)

that's awesome feedback, thank you. The final result looked amazing so good job once again. Going to check out those links!!

This is a great little game. I eliminated the Doctor and I'm not sure that was the right thing to do lol. I like the effects you created. Given this was Unity would you mind sharing what packages you use to get the text to scroll in that like, as well as how you achieved the sort of retro TV post processing effect? It looked really great! Good job team.

Graphically I really appreciate what you have been able to create by using so little. I love a good detective game and this as a concept seems to have some potential. I like the way you use the phone to call different people to gather clues. You've said its a prototype and I know exactly where you're coming from there, so I want to encourage to keep going and keep looking for ways to make this even better because I can see it being quite a fun experience when you get to complete it.

Amazing what you can get with AI. Music sounded pretty good. I liked the concept a lot but I think I needed more of a guide as to how I could unlock more recipes. I got to 8 or 9 unlocks and then it started to feel like I was doing this aimlessly and failing quite a lot. With a few small tweaks or additions though this could be a pretty cool crafting game, so you've got a good base to work from here. Nice submission, good job.

Looks like a good game but I couldn't understand the text as I only speak english. I like the graphics and I liked the theme. You could probably tone down the noise on the monsters slightly lol - they make a racket! I had some fun so thank you for your submission.

Cute graphics and I appreciate you doing your own voice acting! I for one think that using ChatGPT to accelerate your development process is a good thing. You have a good base here with room to expand on and finesse. Good job.

the First Clue is on the portrait of Ben, who represent Benjamin Franklin, who made significant contributions to the understanding of electricity. It's a sum you need to do based on the numbers you'll find when you look at/click on the painting. Enter those 3 numbers into the power box for the next step.

lovely game. Awesome graphics, haven't really played a game with this sort of interpretation before so it was quite unique to me. Excellent use of sound and nicely challenging levels. I seemed to 'randomly' solve the 3rd level with a combination that worked and I'm sure I had another combo in there that was legitimate but didnt work for some reason. Not sure if that's me being silly or a bug but it didn't detract from the fun. Great game, you guys are clearly a talented team and you should really consider doing something professional with that talent if you aren't already :)

This was a great game. I loved the simple use of assets and colors which together with the sounds and music created a retro-gaming experience that took me back to my childhood. I had fun - thank you, good job.

This is a great little game. We loved the graphics and it was fun to play. Good job.

damn, this is one hell of a game. I really enjoyed it. Graphics and sound are obviously awesome. Clearly one of the stand-out submissions for this game jam.

Thanks for playing :) I definitely had to try and go for quality over quantity here as the artwork took me so long to do! There is a little easter egg around why he cant go back out the window and you discover it when you click on the window :D Glad you had a moment of fun with this, and I will definitely check your game out as well.

Thanks for playing! I guess with this kind of game I'm keen to see what people think of the puzzle difficulty, as the other side of it is that it's too hard and nobody gets to finish it. Will check your game out.
