  • Great entry! With a bit more work it could become a great game :) Some notes: - The 3D effect is very cool! - The music is nice, very clean (thanks to your custom audio library I guess), but the main song can get a bit repetitive after a while. The lack of sound effects hurts the game a bit too. - I haven't been able to interact with any characters after mashing all buttons. - The game lacks a map IMO, it's a bit too easy to get lost. - It was fun while it lasted, but at last you put a boss at the end :)
  • Super cool engine. With a bit more polish, this can become a great game.
  • Really cool what you did with he affine backgrounds! If you continue working on this, I'll be excited to see how you continue to develop the battle mechanics and enemy encounters!
  • Super stylish graphics and well-done psuedo-3D effect, and great music! Combat could use some more polish, but I appreciate the speed and the sense of getting stronger. It feels like there's a lot missing (sfx, dialogue, abilities, etc.) but what's there is incredibly promising!
  • Technically impressive engine and I love the fluid animations and the environment art, I didn't find navigation too hard and I found and beat the boss. However, combat feels like it lacks impact, I'd suggest adding some hit freeze/camera shake on dealing and taking hits and some sound effects.

Really cool graphics! Don't think I've seen something like this on the gba. Gameplay is somewhat repetitive but the different enemies makes it up. A map would be helpful. It's very easy to get lost. Especially if you rotate the map alot!

Managed to finish the boss. I think I was over-leveled after getting lost somewhat. Each hit made 9 damage and he went down in a few seconds.

Overall, I enjoyed it.

Thanks! I agree that the game could really use a map. When laid out, there is actually not too much branching in the levels, but it's hard to keep your bearings from room to room.

this is SO COOL! it's such a blast to see someone make a homebrew Sonic-Battle-style brawler. it took me a bit to get the hang of the combat, but then i managed to start feeling my way around traversing the maps and eventually managed to find and KO the boss with barely any health left myself.  bravo!!

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! When one of our team suggested using Sonic Battle as an inspiration for the visuals, I wasn't sure if we'd be able to pull it off, but luckily I found some really useful articles online that helped me get it working.

This game feels grindy. I don't see any available tactics other than run up and keep punching, so it just comes down to whether the player gets lucky enough to find easier enemies and level up more. Even if not, then it's just a matter of respawning and then more running up and punching.

Yeah the gameplay was originally intended to have a lot more elements to it, but we simply ran out of time so I had to stick to very basic mechanics - we hope to flesh it out a little more in the future :)
