I really enjoyed this. I was expecting anything but an economic sim / puzzle. :)

Good graphic design, nice soundtrack.

The font was a little blurry, especially at the smaller sizes. Some of the numbers got very hard to read (is that a 5? a 6? an 8?...).

Beyond that, I have one complaint--without a persistent HUD, having to constantly jump through the menus to check how much money and water I had got really tedious, and I often miscalculated as a result. I realize this is a GB Studio issue and there may not be much you can do about it.

All great points, I will definitely improve the font and display important information on the main screens. Thank you for playing, and I'm glad you liked the music!

Nice game! Im going to join everyone here to tell how great the hyperspace jump is! You should make the menu more visual! Like a ship interface!

Great feedback, thank you!

Great looking game, I will echo the other comments on here saying how excellent the hyperspace jump is. Music is also excellent. Making water your commodity and also your fuel is a great use of dual purpose design and reminds me of having to make similar hard decisions in FTL.

I did find the beginning quite difficult to eke out any progress. I would also suggest a goal for further refining the game would be to reduce friction and increase speed in menu-ing. Since a player is going to be going through the same loop of

-go to planet

-purchase stuff

-go to new planet

-sell stuff

Making the menus fast and easy to navigate should be the highest priority. Having to, say, sell 7 units of water means going through 9 different text boxes with associated confirmations, which really adds up when its the main gameplay loop.

Definitely, thank you! I will make the menus into the background images with tile swapping when I make this a full game, the dialogue menus can be quite limiting.

We actually ended up with pretty similar concepts. I like the idea of having to balance between using your water for fuel or turning a profit. The only issue I had is that the early numbers are fairly hard so if you use up your water traveling to the east planet first without making any upgrades you end up stuck very quick. So the early game could be a bit easier to ease people into it. Love the concept though and the travel animation is really neat!

As an aside, really love your tutorials on YouTube! I  didn't have much time to learn GB Studio ahead of the jam and your tutorials are some of the best to get deeper into the engine. So you're a real life saver!

Developer(+1)

You're right, we both took the same ideas in slightly different directions! You're right about it being very hard to start, you solved that by making the commodities free to add to your ship and giving the player a tutorial. I'll definitely change it if I make this a full game!
I'm glad my videos helped you make a great game!

Gameplay wise the game feels only an endless stream of menus. Also I did not knew how much the license cost so I went there with 16.000 Liters. XD

But the animation and SFX are top notch!

Also did not think about the double theme you also achieved. Congrats on that!

Developer

Yes, you're right! I kept simplifying the game until it was only what was necessary, but I understand I may have also stripped it of it's soul! I'm glad you liked the sound though, it was fun to make the hyper jump!
