I feel stupid I didn't give your entry a try earlier! I was kinda saving a moment to play it because it looked kinda hard based on the screenshots and all. but it was somehow very intuitive and I played through a lot of levels in one sit.

I know you took your time to polish a lot of features, but the only thing I missed was a bit more explanation regarding power ups and how they help with a few mechanics. But other than that, the gameboy feeling is undeniable. The audio sounds 100% like a gameboy game and so does the animations and tiles. Great game!

The powerups are available to Easy and Normal players, and completing 4 rooms in a level in Easy mode gives you another magical powerup at random. Of course, they aren't necessary to beat the game...but they can help!

And thank you for giving it a try!

This is one of the only games that deserve a full 5 star on the Gameboy-ness and that's what it gets. It's also such a fun and addicting game! Its puzzles are really fun to go through. The graphics and audio are exactly like those of a Gameboy game, the resemblance is almost freaky! PICO-8 had a lot of influence on the successful approach to the original Gameboy feel, which is no surprise at all but doesn't take any work, effort and praise from the developer, which deserves a round of applause for such a great job!

Kudos!

Quite a great game if you ask me, it's been fun to explore through all the levels and is more extensive than I expected, which is pretty nice, good work really.

This is superb!  Unfortunately I can't rate it because I didn't submit anything to the jam, but if I could, I would give it full marks.  What surprises me is how much it feels like an NES game.  Even though I'm well familiar with Pico-8, somehow I think I could be convinced this is a genuine 8-bit title.  Something about your use of palette swaps for transitions, use of scrolling backgrounds and small sprites, the style of the cutscenes and the color palette itself feels very Nintendo-esque.

It is based on a Japanese-exclusive 8-bit title, but I did rework it as much as I could to give it its own special feel. Based on what you're saying, I've done my job! 😉

Awesome graphics and really good soundtrack! :)

The game itself is not really my type of game...
