I love a lot about this. The visuals, audio, and overall style and tone are very cohesive and charming.

There's a few huge problems that makes it hard to enjoy though. It's a first-person platformer. That alone means you'll struggle, since you can't see your feet. It's even worse in this game since the ground turns black when you look down. But it would be fine, if you could precisely move and position yourself to make tricky jumps possible.

But you can't. Every time you land from a jump, you slide around like your shoes are made of butter. And you can't move without jumping, so you can't micro-adjust your position because of the butter shoes. I wanted to see more of the game, but after bonking my head for the third time in the vertical level, I couldn't justify continuing. Even the tutorial was kind of a slog, since the speed boost mechanic changes the camera and makes the whole process very jarring.

I can tell there was a lot of heart put into this. From big details like "Carrot Cake Whoa" having its own sound effect that matches the words, to little things like looking up and barely seeing the stars in the night sky. I am drawn to games with lots of heart in them.

But it feels really bad when I know what to do, I know how to do it, but I can't because the methods are so clunky.

Thank you very much for the feedback! My heart genuinely sank when I read this, I'm sorry about the physics and controls being so janky. You might like to know that I'm already working on a new release for the game where I try to correct all the annoying issues and a few more!

The screen turning black when you look down is because I tried implementing a shadow so it was easier to tell where you are gonna land. Thing is though, the shadow is so big it takes up the whole screen. I'm thinkin Imma make it so the shadow gets hidden when you're on the ground.

The slidey physics was the first thing I fixed after releasing the game. I agree the butter feet are really annoying, the player stops almost instantly upon touching the ground now. As for the speed boost mechanic, I mapped it to Shift on keyboard and LT on controllers, so looking up and boosting are a separate thing now.

As for the vertical level, being only the second level after the tutorial, I probably should have put a prompt to tell the player this- but the intention was that you'd do the speed boost off that platform so you wouldn't bonk your head.

Alot of these silly issues came up because, I had mobile support in mind, and I wanted to minimize the amount of buttons present so touchscreen gameplay isn't annoying. I definitely put alot of effort into the presentation and the character, but kind of skipped out on the actual game itself. I've already got sensitivity sliders so you can look slower, and I'm looking to expand the game with new levels, checkpoints, and multiplayer! Of course, not until after I patch what's already here up first.

Thank you so much! :)

I totally get that. I implemented mouse wheel movement in my game with an eye toward mobile friendly controls as well. I like the forethought you put into it.

I'm sorry if my feedback made your heart sink, I genuinely like your game and rated it very highly. I was hoping to highlight the areas I felt it could be improved.

Really great to hear that you're already hard at work on it! Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Thanks and no problem, I don't mean it in a bad way, just that it made me think. I just hadn't actually gotten criticism yet other than yours!

Nice concept! It can evolve into a full game.

Amazing game, I had a blast playing it! The level design and the music are really well-made. Definitely one of my favorites that I've played so far this jam!

Thank you so much! A bulk of the project development time was spent on the music and sounds :)

Controls were hard at first but I got used to it in a short time. Looking at the map animation is cool! Good game mate!

Thank you! The animations and the physics of the bunny man were hard to get right at first, I basically just kept messing with values until I got him feeling just right 👌
