Hello everyone! I'm a game designer from China.  I create the game " Copporate Slave Simulator " for BIG GDevelop Game Jam 5.

I uploaded the zip, but it cannot be run on the web page. I can only play it by downloading the exe.

The error message is:

There was a problem loading your project:

Archive contains filename with non UTF-8 Encoded characters

Does anyone know what causes this? Is packaging zip affected by the Great Firewall of China?

1. You have to press the box "play in browser" when uploading

1.Yes, I have done everything you said. I should have written out the error message.

2.Hahaha, this is a kind of self-mockery. In Chinese, it is called "社畜——social animal", but it means that workers work in the company like slaves.

This game sounds cool! When I  was exporting my game file from GDevelop, It prompted me to choose the file format it would be exported in. I had to specifically export the game for browsers (HTML5). Then I just uploaded to itch.io as usual and checked the "play in broswer" option

I hope my experience can help you ><

Thanks for your suggestion, I did the same thing, but it doesn't work. If you are interested in my games, you can come and play them. The gd.games platform can run them directly.

I had the same experience as I uploaded my game here to itch.io, here's what I did to fix this:
Instead of compressing the game to zip using the one that is IN microsoft, I instead used "7zip File Manager"

then I opened "7zip File manager," highlighted the Game File, pressed right click and I clicked "7zip" then "Add to archive" then a menu pops up, I replaced the option "rar" to "zip" then clicked "ok"

then after that I uploaded the game here in itch.io and it worked.

hope this helps
