Super cool concept and the art had a really cool feel to it. Great use of particles as well! Great job!

Developer

Thank you for this wonderful feedback !

I'm thrilled to see that my headaches over the particle systems didn't go to waste...

What level did you manage to reach?

Thank you !

I hope you managed to reach advanced levels to fully appreciate the concept of this game...

Nice game, though I don't know how to complete the tutorial level after collecting the three colored orbs, since I get softlocked by the platforms that block the way to the goal.

Developer

You need to switch between On and Off dimensions to be able to progress in the level, jump ( double and wall ) to reach the top of the level ( for training purpose ), fall down on the other side and then smash the switch button that was located at the beginning of the level.

If you haven't been able to complete the tutorial, I suggest you giving it another try, because the tutorial is far from being fun on its own...

Okay, I finally managed to get ahold of the controls now. Apparently, it's possible to collect the red power orb early by wall jumping even if you don't have any power orbs collected, which caused me to get softlocked on my first playthrough. The wall jumping mechanic is awkward, though; I'm still not used to sliding against a wall and using the up arrow to jump instead of using the space bar to do so.

Hope I get a hang of it when I do another playthrough of the game.

Developer

I'm glad to hear that you're getting the hang of the controls better, and I hope you were able to get through the tutorial !

Regarding the wall jump without the green power, it's not a bug but a frame-perfect jump intentionally included for speedrunning enthusiasts to offer an alternative and quicker way to progress through levels. Otherwise, you'll need to unlock the green power to wall jump freely.

I've provided the option to use both WASD and arrow keys for gameplay, reserving the space bar for the On/Off mechanic. I hope you'll manage to navigate through all the levels and even beat your own records...

PS : feel free to share a screenshot of your level selection menu with your best scores !

Nice concept, good job :)

Thank you !

What level have you reached so far ?

Submitted

I completed the first level in 183 seconds, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to conquer the second level. Nevertheless, I've played several games utilizing the same game mechanics as you, and I must say, yours offers the most entertaining and enjoyable gameplay. I do have a suggestion: perhaps you could consider assigning different buttons for the various abilities.

I'm sorry to hear that you couldn't progress beyond level 2...

Could I know what's preventing you from completing it ?

Have you pressed "Esc" to restart the level and thoroughly explored both dimensions to catch the power-ups ?

Maybe consider giving it another try with this little assistance to see if it becomes easier...

As for the additional controls, I chose to keep the same keys but with a double press ( for double jump and dash ) to avoid adding three new keys to learn and also to make it more accessible for those playing on their phones, ensuring there aren't too many buttons obscuring the level ( and they can also double tap the buttons on the touchscreen to simulate a double press on the keyboard ).

Also, I think adding a leaderboard to each level could be a valuable addition. It would allow players to see who has the fastest completion time, which in turn could serve as motivation for them to engage more actively with your game.

That's a great idea, and I thought I'd have time to add it, but I ended up spending too much time fixing the menu display bugs ( and I still don't understand why they pop up sporadically and only for certain people ) and making the game mobile-friendly...

I'll definitely consider adding a leaderboard after the game jam because it's crucial for this type of game ( speedrunning ), since I can't make changes to the source for now.

Can you check out my game too?
