Hello,
On my end, I couldn't vote on the games, and it seems I'm not the only one since no one received any ratings from other participants.
However, in the game jam description, it was mentioned that a panel of judges would vote internally ( but it has been removed )...
So, where are the opinions and ratings from the judges ?
Thank you so much for your feedback !
I saw you playing on YouTube, and I would advise you to progress further in the levels because there are more puzzle elements that you discover gradually...
There are two game modes: the exploration part to finish the levels, and the speedrun part which depends on memory, where you have to beat the levels as quickly as possible ( almost all levels can be completed in under 10 seconds ).
PS : Regarding the controls stopping after pausing, I haven't been able to reproduce the bug to understand what happened because everything is working fine for me. For the level with the dash, you can only go up on the right side ( you need to switch while jumping ), it will be easier.
Thank you so much for this great feedback !
Yes, it's true that after that message, there are no more new mechanics, except for the last level where the platforms are smaller ( I would have liked to have more time to create additional levels, but it wasn't possible in 5 days )...
Once the power-ups have been learned, they are available in all the following levels, but they are not necessarily required to complete the levels ( although they make it easier ).
Regarding wall jumping without the green power-up, I intentionally left one frame that allows you to do it without the power-up ( and then it's blocked if you don't have the green power ) to let speedrunners go faster if they manage a frame-perfect jump.
Well done for finding that Easter egg !
As for the jumps, they reset as soon as you touch a platform, and you can use them at any time. So, yes, it's possible to drop and then jump farther ( by using this mechanism, you can also reach otherwise inaccessible areas and go faster ).
You can change controls in the "Settings > Controls" menu but only on keyboard for now...
A nice game but a bit repetitive...
I had to change the controls because I couldn't play like that ( even though I'm left-handed XD ) !
PS : I noticed that you left a comment on my game, but I can't see it because I removed my game ( due to a mistake but we resolved the issue with the organizers ), and it deleted all the comments. So, if you want to retest it and leave a comment that I can read, I'd appreciate it !
I'd love to test this game more, but I'm encountering a bug that's preventing me from playing.
In the red zone, when I Dash, the character goes directly to the left instead of continuing in my direction, so I can't even pass level 1. It's a shame because I really like this style of game...
PS : If you enjoy speedrun-style games, I think you'll like my game too, so don't hesitate to give it a try and let me know what you think !
Great game ! I love the concept !
The "next level" button takes me back to the menu. I'm not sure if that's intentional, but it's not a big deal. As you add more lines, it can get quite challenging, but since you can't lose, it might be a good idea to add lives or a timer to increase the stakes.
PS : I noticed that you commented on my game "Switch", but I couldn't access your comment because I was resolving an issue with the organizers ( I had submitted my development build, and the game started with the final levels ). Now that it's sorted, you should be able to play from the tutorial, and please feel free to leave another comment...
A really great game ! I loved it !
Just need to refine the player's control feel, especially during descents.
Also, I think adding a timer for speedrunners could enhance the experience, as you've got a solid concept going...
PS : Feel free to check out my game too. It's challenging and only a few have managed to beat level 4 ( out of 13 ) and I designed it with speedrunning in mind.
Absolutely, I completely understand your approach.
Personally, I'm inclined to try out as many games as possible in order to offer ratings and comments on a maximum number of them before the game jam's voting period comes to a close...
The intention behind this post was precisely to provide a broader perspective of my game to those who might have become stuck ( without the need to complete it ), as Level 4 only scratches the surface of "Switch".
I anticipate that, like myself, you'll likely take more time to revisit the games you've particularly enjoyed ( to finish them and possibly provide a more comprehensive constructive critique ) once the voting period concludes.
PS : Yes, I do have plans to continue developing "Switch" beyond the game jam ( my aim is to include around 80-100 distinct levels for an official release, offering several hours of gameplay ). I've received a substantial amount of feedback for improvements, and I intend to overhaul the platforming system for enhanced ball control. Additionally, I'll be adding leaderboards for each level and the ability to select preferred controls within the game...
