cool looking game but i encountered some game breaking bugs that kept me from playing it: i fell through the map somewhere, and the game ignored WASD input until I pressed the START key on my keyboard then switched back to it.
if you guys make a post-jam version, let me know so i can play it
I am pretty sure our programmer has put together a post jam version which should come out sometime soon! sorry you encountered those bugs.
Cool basis, interested to see where it'll go story wise. Controls are a bit heavy for my tastes, but that might be part of the horror mechanics. Definitely will follow!
thank you for the kind words!
glad to know the narrative sparked some interest :)
Pretty spooky. It felt like all the shrubbery was watching my every move.
thanks for playing the game!
well technically they are watching your every move, it's 2d sprites xD
Really great horror vibe. Love the art and the story as well.
Gameplay-wise, I had trouble figuring out what to do. I kind of just felt like I was wandering around aimlessly, occasionally finding enemies (?), until I eventually encountered the edge of the map. I ran off it just to see what would happen but I just kept falling. I refreshed the page to just start over, but then the game seemed kind of bugged, where movement wasn’t totally straight and the character seemed potentially smaller. Re-opening the game in an incognito window fixed it, but even then I still wasn’t able to make any meaningful progress in the game, other than recording a few ghosts and getting a tape and some batteries.
All of that said, I saw enough to recognize that there was definitely a lot of solid effort in here, so nice work regardless!
thank you for the kind words!
glad to know that we nailed the atmosphere :)
we initially planned to put a couple of notes & audio logs here and there to give player some sort of guidance on where to go next. but due to time constraints, that bit unfortunately didn't make it into the game yet. but should we have time to polish it further, yes, placing some notes would be a priority
the movement thing probably had to do with the window size
while playing windowed i can run just fine, but when it goes fullscreen the game thinks the player is facing another direction
