Cool historical setting! Had fun with the trading strategy mechanics. Never figured out quite what hiring people did. Looks like maybe there was some more features planned to vary the gameplay but they were not fully implemented. Still I had fun with my time with it :)
Thanks for the comments! You're right that some features didn't make it in - hence hiring people didn't do anything in this version. (They still take a share of the profits when retiring!)
Really cool! Haven't played a text adventure as part of a game jam (or really at all, actually). Nice descriptions and writing. And I actually found the game to be quite visually pleasing! The little animation between cities was nice and the background generally helped you feel like you were in the setting, along with the music & sound effects.
I think my biggest piece of critical feedback is that it would be nice to have some sort of goal up-front? To provide a little bit of direction. And it seemed like each city was exactly the same - I wasn't sure how to progress?
Also, I think that having a little sound effect when clicking would go a long way with this game since there's so much menu navigation.
This inspires me to want to try my own text adventure, well done!
EDIT: Ohhh just saw the description on the game page, I understand the goal now.
Thanks for the feedback! Adding menu sound effects is a good suggestion - the menus are a bit bland!
Yes each city is the same for now - would be nice to add a bit of character to each one but I didn't have time for more.
Great game so far. I guess the missing features would have added a bit of variaty. But as of right now. It is still a nice little trading game :)
The art and sound were good. One thing iw oudl have loved to see were another way of naviagting to other cities. I mean, the Buttons were nice and functional but most of the cities were not in vision when i was able to travel to them. And is i am bad in remembering names :D
Good job.
Hey thanks for the feedback! Yes good point about the navigation. Perhaps I should have added direct movement controls.
Thanks for playing my game and leaving any feedback! Please see the game page for a few other notes.
Note on the jam theme: the setting is from a history book I read recently, the main mechanic is supply & demand economics - not something I've seen mixed in a game before.
Note on the jam modifier: I added colliders and gravity just to tick this one off.
