Great duality concpet, very well exploited.
I loved the audio track and the game look very polished.
On the negative side, I had very anoying jumping issues (not being able to jump to the left up corner from a small plateform for some reasons) and it made the game very frustrating to play.
I am also very confused about the progression in both world. I mean i seem to do alright since my player seem to move on but I don't feel I am in control. I feel my character that was left somewhere and stuck is now in a completly new location and since both world look very different it doesnt seem to be mirroring movement.
So yeah it got me a bit confused.
Appart from that, good job, great ui, soundtrack and duality mechanics
nice polish. i liked the sound. pretty good take on duality
Has a very solid base. With a couple things cleaned up (coyote time, controls, audio) this would be a pretty polished game.
The music was cute, though it was mostly coming in through the left earpiece.
My recommended keyboard setup would be
For controller
I appreciate your comment! I definitely let scope creep get to me on this one. Audio is definitely my worst. I didn't realize until too late that Godot's audio is location based so it was always out the left ear. Haha. I am not big on platformers (as a player) so not used to coyote time or controls (despite knowing about both). Will definitely work on this stuff more in the future. For the music, I hoped to write my own but then realized my years of being in band class as a kid did not translate to music composition. Haha.
I really liked the concept and the visuals. Although i experienced quite a lot of bugs which led me to game over on level 2.
The first things was that by having world switch and arrow shooting on the same button, i completely missed the red key in the first level and it took a while for me to beat the level. There were some parts where i consecutively lost a lot of lives because of this mechanic, especially where there were angels and demons on the same spot.
There is some strange bug where i had a hard time jumping to the left from those tiny corners that stick out as if the input was being swallowed.
On the second level i had the most bugs. I was suddenly invincible, was able to walk on lava and walk through the locked doors. I didn't mind because i wanted to get past all the enemies and see how the levels were designed. Although i ultimately ran out of arrows and suddenly was mortal again. I had 3 lives left and they were quickly gone because i couldn't shoot anymore.
For my own gameplay, i didn't even notice the world balance bar and it didn't have any effect on the way that i played.
Hope this helps for fixing some of these things because i liked the appeal of the game.
I appreciate the comment. I rushed myself a lot on this game and definitely scope creep got to me. Didn't realize a lot of the bugs until it was too late. I appreciate that you liked the appeal.
Felt very buggy at times, shooting arrows and switching worlds on the same controls? Also the ground detection (for when you can jump) was very buggy when standing on ledges. Cool concept and nice art though!
I appreciate the comment. I didn't realize until after the deadline that the controls overlapped. I forgot to test every control (used my favorites and didn't test others). Definitely will fix jumping in future games. I'm glad you enjoyed the art. I'm starting to realize I love the art aspects of gaming (once I learned how to draw Haha).
Really nice concept but was a bit laggy or otherwise slow. Switching was also a bit klunky since I could insta teleport to death without realizing it. Overall really cute though and definitely a cool concept!
Thanks! I tried to hint at areas that were safe for teleportation without giving away the solution, but it was hard to do on the time crunch. Glad you thought it was cool. I will definitely look into the lag in the future. I had never posted a game from the Godot engine before.
(Non-developer here) This game was quite cool and I was nicely surprised by more stages than I expected and gameplay was simplistic, but neat. Would've wished for slightly less high-pitched audio, but otherwise great. 4.25/5 c:
Thanks! I tried to make it easy to understand. Audio is my weakest aspect. If I had more time, I definitely would've tried more with it.
