I really enjoyed this! It was incredibly silly but fun, especially when you get a few more 'weapons'. Trying to line enemies up to make the most of the car and the asteroid was satisfying. I agree with the previous commenter that some visual feedback on the invisible walls would have been good.

My gosh, the assets you can get when you have a look around. I like the aesthetics of this game. And although the barricades were a bit... meh/boring? Everything after that definitely started to build on that awesome!

Personally I'd like perhaps a visual representation on the invisible walls that get added for each section, or perhaps keep it more open because I felt like I got in some cheap hits trying to feel out the limits at each part. Otherwise very fun! o/

Cool idea, setting traps instead of attacking, but I found it to be too restrictive, and the camera always felt it was in the wrong place

You can summon a car to fly across the screen and destroy robots. 10/10.

I love the little details like the text on the walls (the writing's on the wall :p) and everything looks really nice overall. Just needs checkpoints!

Developer

Thanks for the extremely positive comment!  And you are absolutely right, I should've prioritized checkpoints ;)

Ahaha, Bunbun is the bomb. :D Neat concept for a beat-em-up, although it took me a bit to get the connection. Execution was overall superb! I think the weakest aspect may have been the barricades, as they seemed a bit too haphazard and non-intentional. Nicely done!

Thanks for the critiques!  Added to my notes.

My computer runs it at like 5 fps lol. Cool concept! I don't like how when you drop a barrier the location seems kinda random; but I do like how you don't have a long tutorial; you just get thrown right in! (And the enemy AI is kinda boring)

Nice entry to the jam!

I just realized.... motion blur looks awful when the frame rate is really low XD  I should've turned it down to avoid the problem.

For a solid game I will give a solid score, it was interesting and looks pretty good except for how the motion blur effects the player. But that's not a big deal. It's a fun game until it gets to the point of being a black ops 2 "I fell off the bus on transit" type of vibe. Great game for time it was made in.

Hope you get the chance to try my game out! It may not be as polished, but the great mechanic drives the game. Thanks :)

It's an interesting mechanic, but there were a couple of things that kept me from really getting into it. The motion blur was excessive. it looks really good when you're standing still, but when you're moving it looks bad. Also, i found the combat to be a little repetitive. You're just running around spamming "u", especially since you can't do anything to affect where the things spawn.

Looks well made despite being premade assets, there is something asthetically pleasing about the overall look and tone. Checkpoints would have done wonders and a little more audio polish since spamming so much leads to repetitive sounds which would be fine with a little variation in pitch for example. Overall nice work =]

Cool idea, I always liked the idea of using stage hazards to kill enemies. I would have liked it a bit more if I had any noticeable control over where the roadblocks spawned. Ended up just being a bit of a spam fest.

Super polished, the game has amazing graphics for a jam! But it's a bit repetitive, I was spamming ability all the time because ability are random. Still awesome work!

Lots of free assets :) We didn't have an artist or musician.

now I need to stock up on free assets :) I'm not sure if there's potential for a full game, but definitely great jam entry

The concept of this is pretty hilarious, and it's clear a lot of effort went into the execution.  I wasn't a huge fan of having very little control over where things were going to drop, though.  It ended up just being me mashing the button a lot and hoping I was in the right place. I think maybe adding a way to control the general area things drop in or at least maybe a marker that shows where the next thing will drop. That way you can kite the enemies into it and feel like you have a little more involvement in how the game plays out.

Overall, I liked it and I think there's a lot more you can do with the concept. Hope to see bunbun having some more crazy exploits.

Fun and well polished game!
But it feels like bunbun is evil and dem bots are trying to save the world! XD bunbun has bombs!!!!

Developer

Thanks so much!  I really enjoyed your game as well!

Funny and well-executed concept. Repetition sets in after a while, but it kinda feels like a problem with Beat-rm-ups more than this game in particular. Great job!

Ha that was pretty fun. That was an interesting twist on a brawler.

Cool concept, fits the theme and looks very nice! You've probably seen this comment already but some checkpoints would be nice :D

Submitted(+1)

Damn, the amount of polish is very impressive, the soundtrack also suits the gameplay quite well and I really like the concept. You could really put in some checkpoints tho.

That was a very strange game! The lack of checkpoints means I sadly won't be beating it. I got all 4 abilities then died when the two powerful ones both missed at the same time.

I like that you are basically playing two games at once: one calling in attacks from above and the other dodging robots. It makes the game feel more frantic as you have to switch between them.

It was pretty funny that you're only means of offense is dropping barriers, like your politely asking the robots to go away, and the car had a habit of flipping through the air when it hit an obstetrical which was pretty entertaining.  You all drew quite a lot of models for this and the fire looks really nice. If I didn't have to restart from the beginning with each death, I would definitely finish it.

Developer

Thanks for the comment!!  I definitely should have added checkpoints, but I was too exhausted to set it all up.  Glad you enjoyed it!  Thanks for reviewing.
