I really like the only one platform active, and shoot to activate mechanic; simple and solid design! I see an enemy coming, and try to shoot at them through the deactivated platforms, and fall to my death! That's a clever idea, makes me think more about every shot instead of just reflex! Double jump is a life saver. Great job on the game :)

Great game - it would be cool if you could get an item that gave you featherfall etc

Absolutely fantastic. Great twist on a concept I've seen a couple of times in the jam, the shooting to move your platforms makes it stand out.

I really, REALLY like how even though the platforms aren't necessarily physical, they act as cover for your enemies. It can make the decision between playing a platformer or a shooter tough.  Also, I don't know if it was intentional, but being able to jump in the air if you ran off of a platform was a great inclusion. It added quite a bit of skill that wouldn't have been there if you were only limited to jumping on the ground.

Great work.

Really great idea, shows heaps of creativity. Difficulty makes progress really exciting.

I think it just needs a bit more polish, specifically the movement could be a bit better.

:+1: Great game

Very cool game, seemed pretty challenging but felt good once I got used to it.

Challenging, but very fun and addictive

Great idea, but still a little bit rough around the edges. I love the movement mechanics and the game feels awsome to play. A bit tricky but still really fun.

Hope to see this game become more than just a jam!

Thanks!

Awesome dual purpose mechanic! Game feel is also very satisfying and responsive, nicely done.

Fun game!  A bit tricky, but after a few attempts I got the hang of it

Very interesting idea, but difficulty curve and controls kills the actual execution

Great idea, others have already said much more than I could have, I'd love to see this refined a bit more!

A few bugs that I posted on the download page, but the game itself is very fun.

As others have said, super cool game here. At first I thought it was too hard, but after a few tries I started to get the hang of it. A few tweaks and I think the difficulty would feel a lot fairer. Really fun, thematic and original!

Thanks for the feedback! In hindsight I really would have liked to have spent some more time on the difficulty curve.

This idea is amazing, and the execution is pretty amazing. (Good juice on shooting) Definitely one of the better games so far. The main mechanic is so awesome that I'd be disappointed if this doesn't get mentioned.

However, the difficulty is a bit too high because the controls aren't very refined. Mostly, the difficulty comes from the player falling quickly, and not having a high enough jump to move between some of the platforms. Small platforms with too much vertical room in between increases the movement problems. I would have played for a long time, but those simple problems would need fixed first. The more technically complex problem to solve is when you shoot a platform your character is clipping through, and the platform becomes solid, but you still fall through it. I died to that more than the enemies.

As for the design, I think the enemies should prefer to enter on the top half of the map, for a few reasons. First, enemies that come from the bottom are very difficult to kill, since you cannot shoot below the platform you are standing on. Having lots of easy to kill enemies gives the player more fun things to shoot at. Next, having enemies above the player increases the likelihood that a player will shoot a platform above them, which is a fun way to die. (Dying to a personal mistake offers players a chance to learn, and it makes people want to try again, which is always good.)

Thanks for the great feedback! This is all definitely stuff I will improve moving forward.

Nice concept, feels good to play. You made a typo in the controls menu.
