This game is much appreciated - I'm always on the look out for a good mystery game, and this is a solid example of one. No complaints, although I think it would be even cool if each character was actually voiced since then you'd feel even more like a detective listening to witnesses (obviously not enough time for that for the jam).

Thank you for trying out the game ^^. I really appreciate it.

Well written and catchy. The music helps  a lot to create the proper atmosphere. I found the 3 answers the first time but I shall admit I read the 3 stories before making my guess.

Thank you for playing, we really appreciate it. And the game was designed so that you should read all the stories at least once before trying to answer. Our idea of "only one" was that you can look at only one person every time they speak (every character has 6 lines and they speak simultaneously). Some people think that defeats the purpose of "only one", which is understandable. But I think the game is more fun if you are able to replay the stories.

That was so cool. It took me a second try to figure it out, but once I did I really felt like a detective. Great job!

Thank you for playing. I'm glad you enjoyed it ^^.

So, as I mentioned, there's some great ideas here, and I think if you expand the mechanic into something more broad you'd be on to a winner. :)

As I mentioned in the voice chat, I think the mechanic behind the original This House Has People In It website (which is sadly now gone), where there are a number of surveillance camera screens in a grid and you can pick a screen and see its video and hear its audio feed, and then when you go back to the grid all of the videos have progressed over the same timeframe, would serve this incredibly well.

I highly recommend watching the video linked above, and also Night Mind's breakdown of it. :)

Thank you for your feedback.

This game is interesting. I think the concept can go really far. I would say that for my taste this is too easy. I only had to read the last person's text to get the answer. I feel that the fact that you can read through the text a many times as you want takes away from the concept of only being about to focus on one person. The writing is good and the way the talkers interact is really nice.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback. Maybe it would be more theme appropriate if you could only read through the text once, but I have a feeling that would make it less fun.

Cool little game! Got all the answers correct on the first try! It was a little difficult to switch focus without losing a ton of info, though, so I ended up just kind of reading each story separately. Cool concept!

Hello! dropping in like i said i would!

So this is a really interesting one. For one side, the story is actually great and it really made me think, it actually makes you try to think about the timeline of events and facts and makes you feel ike a detective, and that's delicious. Seriously! give me more of that, hehe

For the other side, though i understand how you tried to use the only one at a time gimmick, it kinda falls because you can always repeat the story multiple times, and you do need all the facts.

Maybe doing the same thing, but only being able to listen once and having the text move in real time (although slowly) could work? that way you'd have to really listen to all of them and be quick to catch the facts. maybe you'd need to tell the players to get paper and a pen too, hehe

voice acting could help if you go realtime, though i know it's quite hard to find good ones.

overall, it's actually a really good idea, just need to give it a spin on the execution. Promising!

Thank you for playing the game and giving feedback. I am glad that you enjoyed the game. As for the "only one" mechanic we were going for the fact that you had to keep all the information in your head/on paper as you listened to one person and try to put where his dialogue goes in the story. But I can understand if people don't think it fits the theme that well.

As for leaving everything as it is and allowing you to only see the conversation once, that would fit the theme better, but in my opinion it would make the game more frustrating than it should be. But it would need to be tried to see if I'm right. Cheers.

I realy like the game and I am proud to say I had all three answers correct on the first try. I love these kinds of game are you making more of it? I would love to play a second part.

Developer

We certainly can try to do another ^^. But don't be disappointed if we won't do another this month.

In theory the idea of only being able to talk to one person at a time and losing out on other opportunities is intriguing. However in practice each piece of dialogue is really only coherent with the previous. On top of that giving the option to review the case means that the gimmick is completely by-passable. Perhaps if you could ask a question once to any person the dialogue would have a more coherent flow? I liked the story as a whole but besides the killer it was somewhat to decipher the right answers. Overall pretty good.
