So can we do bug fixes/updates?

We've gotten a lot of feedback on our game Obstacular, a lot of which relates to how wall jumps are executed. I've realised that players need a slightly longer window for key presses. Is it against GMTK rules to post an update?

Thanks!

Your game was awesome! I love how you approached the theme.

I want to say there's nothing wrong with doing updates, because we're learning from all the brilliant feedback we're getting, but at the same time... I dunno.

I would think that maybe updating the actual game might raise a flag? but I'm not entirely sure either. I'm sure you can edit the actual page and stuff though

Same here, the version we submitted has a that make the interactions not happen on the cross-hairs. I'm guessing no because updates are disabled on the submissions page.

Give ours a try if you'd like: https://singularitysystems.itch.io/the-missing-piece

Oh, I didn't realise updates are actually disabled. Oh well, I guess that answers that question. We'll have to wait until the voting period is over I guess. Shame about your crosshair! It sucks to publish and find that one thing that doesn't work properly. : /

Yup. Amazing game btw, it was a blast to play through and each level was fresh and interesting. Especially the last level, funny how comfortable you get with the controls by then.

Hahaha, thanks! Yeah,  I've already done a patch to make wall jumping easier. Shame it can't be updated. Good to hear you got used to it though, and very interesting actually.

This was near the end of an update email:

"Also: you may change your itch.io page after the jam is over. You may also upload a new build if you want, but keep the original jam build that you made in the 48 hour time slot, and clearly label it as such, so people know which version to actually judge! "

I saw that too and thought we'd be able to add new builds if we wanted, but then when I went to check it new uploads were disabled

Interesting.

Probably fairer that way, I guess.

I've kept the original and also uploaded a version with a bug repair so the option is there to download either :)

So they both show on the page: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/462582

Though once the jam is over I'll be putting just the repaired version up!
