How does your game fit the theme?
It's a tactical game where your out-of-control Mothership goes in straight line toward its death, the enemy mothership. You need to assign controls to your units (who are, by default, out of control) to defend it and defeat the enemy mothership before it defeats you. You can only assign controls to ONE ship per turn, meaning that the other one are often out of control. Random "out of control events" (such as "strong wind") create a risk and reward gameplay where you want to assign many controls on a ship but they risk to not play out as you expected because of those events.

Nice graphics! I included it in my GMTK Game Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)
Thank you! :)
Awesome, thanks!
Really fun strategy game with a lot of depth and complexity but it also managed to fit the theme really well. I probably would have liked some indicator for when a ship was about to attack but other than that the game was amazing. Great job and I hope you keep developing the game!
Thanks a lot! It feels really good to read a comment like yours :)
Yes UI is definitely missing at the moment on quite a few things, and some bugs still there don't help... But we've already started to fix things and will hopefully be able to deliver a better version after the jam :)
We also know the combat isn't that clear either and will need some rework.
Thanks for testing the game and for taking the time to post a comment!
I'm glad you liked it, despite the lack of HUD/feedback :)
I love all kinds of strategies! It's so nice to see a strategy game in this jam. (and there are really very few, I only saw two). I really like the music and the overall theme of this project. I will be waiting for future updates after the jam ends.
Thank you!
Yeah we knew it'd be a challenge to do a strategy game in a jam but we really liked the idea we had. Sadly, we totaly ran out of time so, sorry for the missing feedback / hud.
There really needs to be more visual contexts for players to comprehend the game state, like arrows indicating which ship will go to which tile in the next turn. That being said, game jam is about demonstrating ideas so I would say this is an excellent one! The concept really has potential to be further developed into a full game.
My suggestion is that for this demo you might want to remove the wind event, because without clear visual contexts it makes things more confusing, and thus feels unpredictable.
I totally agree with you.
We had VFX and animations ready to be plugged in the game but we ran out of time, that's on us ^^
The wind event was an attempt to make everything feel more out of control without feeling too frustrating but once again without the proper feedback, I agree with you, it makes it even more confusing for people.
Thanks a lot for your feedback and for trying our game :)
Thanks a lot for this awesome feedback!
As Herve said, we had a lot of FX/feedback ready to be plugged in but we got overwhelmed and couldn't put them in. We even have some really nasty bug impacting player's understanding ><
As you said we wanted to share this idea and wanted to make a game that could be played outside of a jam, which obviously is trickier and more of a challenge ^^.
About the wind event, it's not that we added that afterwards, it was one of our main idea of out of control system ^^ But I agree, at the moment, it's really confusing... should I say out of control :o ?
This looks and sounds great, would love to see it expanded into a full game!
I don't think the tutorial stated what the game's goal was so I didn't understand what I was supposed to do at first but overall I think this was really good!
Yeah, we ran out of time and couldn't finish the HUD and the tutorial, sorry about that :s
But thanks for trying it anyway and for your kind comment! :)
Nice art and setup, love the steam/balloon punk japanese aesthetic. Catchy tunes as well !
Skipped the tutorial for my first game, shouldn't have ! #RTFM.
I did exactly the same and regret about that too :)
Thanks for the kind words!
And yeah we know you can't go into the game right into it ^^
How did you feel about the game after the tutorial?
The game feels like it should be much larger, not a jam game. 48 hours is a tough limit. However, I liked the current gameplay :)
Yes we had other ideas that could have fitted better in 48 hours, but we wanted something more fresh and original, even if it was a challenge :)
Really glad you liked it! Hopefully we'll have the ability to work on it some more after ;)
Even with the tutorial it's far from easy so... yeah you should probably play the tutorial xD
Thanks for trying our game anyway! :)
