How does your game fit the theme?
pal8 co-opts coarse-grained controls from text based adventures and applies them to a fine-grained top-down 2D physical space. The player is meant to feel a bit uneasy about the controls, and just when they start to feel comfortable, the controls are modified.

I always find type to do something quite fiddly, If you could put a repeat button in so people dont have to keep writing move down!
I played for a long time :v me eyes hurt a little :'v
I was very confused couldn’t really figure out what to do. The narrator was funny at times, but didn’t help in any way. I don’t understand the game.
I like the concept but wasn't quite sure what to do and the narrator kept being snarky about it
The idea of a text based adventure is neat, but I felt like there wasn't really enough you could do in the game to justify a command prompt.
I liked the sassiness of the narrator, thought it was pretty funny! However, I think I got stuck at some point (was stuck in an upper right corner and could only go up or right) and I couldn't tell if there was a clever way out, or I just had to restart.
I think it could benefit from having a first really easy, introductory level/section. Good job!
good concept funny dialog but it would have been funnier if it was harder fail. i had no idea what to do, i didn't manage to finish it but if you could give me some advice i'll give it another go.
I had no idea what to do, all I could do was walk around and look at things while the narrator called me an idiot. The concept is interesting, but there was next to no substance from what I was able to find.
I still wasnt sure if youre supposed to be able to pick stuff up. Still, I liked the responses when you cant pickup the vial. I get that you're supposed to feel uneasy about the controls but if you never know in the first place theres nothing you can do. I also had no clue how to enter the hole.

pal8 is a combination Text Based/Top Down Adventure. This early prototype was created as part of the GMTK Game Jam 2020 in 48 hours. The demo shows some of the mechanics we're interested in playing with around the idea of "control" (specifically, the lack thereof).
