I enjoyed how "out of control" this game was, overall a very fun game, however, could have done with music and sound effects to add to the experience.
Thank you for playing.
I wish I could have gotten some audio in there. That was certainly the plan, but my audio person fell through and I just didn't have the time to do it myself.
Very fun idea, I like the silly setting a lot ;)
Yet, I think that the plant growth is a little bit too much out of control ;)
And it's really missing audio, it'll be great with some moody music in the background.
Thanks.
I definitely would reign in the plant growth if I had more time.
Unfortunately my audio person decided to start everything 2 hours before the game jam finished. So, I wasn't able to put anything in.
I like the flavor a lot! I played your game on stream! If you want to see your game played with live feedback, you can find the VOD and watch from this sheet: http://bit.ly/bean-stream
Will I see you the next cool math game jam? ;)
~Love, overstimulated dev
Thanks for playing.
I watched the stream and it's incredibly helpful to see someone else playing the game. Definitely things like button placement, being clear that you can hire new farmers, and clarity about seed planting are all things that could be improved.
Don't think I'll continue this one, as it was just a fun 24 hour project.
Not sure if I'll do another coolmathgame jam. The 2019 one was fun, but I definitely felt like it wasn't intended for my age group. Perhaps I'll encourage some of my students to join.
Oh, yeah, I thought the number of farmers was set per level.
Another thing I didn't think to say is just that it took a long time between the start of the tutorial to actually get started. There is a lot to explain with this one, so I'm not immediately sure how it could be done better, though.
That makes sense, some of the cmg entries were pretty clearly people's first games. What is the age group of the students you teach?
I teach high school. Mostly I'm a fabrication teacher but I'm also fortunate to teach an introductory Video Game design course. My students are all ages, but mostly lower-classmen. The course is a fun one to get them excited about coding in order to boost our computer science numbers (a class which is pretty dry up until the very end where they get back into more advanced object-oriented programming).
The game was fun although it felt reeeeally hard the mechanic was interesting but I would make that maybe the plants dont reproduce at that speed or that a farmer could do 2 or more things than just one, great game tho keep it up!
It isn't as well balanced as I'd like it to be; given a week more and some playtesters I'm sure I could reign it in.
I do know it's challenging, though. It took me about 10 tries to beat level 7. Thanks for the thoughts on how to adjust the difficulty.
Unfortunately I am really bad at this
Fortunately this is fun anyway
Unfortunately I can't thank you in person.
Fortunately I can still thank you for your kind review.
Thank you.
Cool concept. I liked the randomness of both the plant growth and where the farmers ended up going. A lot of mechanics to take in at the start, but pretty fun once I got the hang of it.
Thanks. Is there any way you think it could have been clearer from the start?
There was a lot of text all at once with some jokes smattered in. It might have been easier to understand for me if the information was more concise and with less jokes (saving those for later in the shorter text bits) but that's more of a personal preference.
dialog was funny, however the screen was microscopic for me.
I thought that might be an issue. I just didn't have the time to implement screen and text resizing.
Thanks for the feedback.
Wow that was surprisingly challenging, but a great concept with a M.U.L.E. feel to it
Thanks for the feedback.
