How does your game fit the theme?
The setting of the game is a mother worried (needlessly, I might add) about something happening to her son whenever he goes out with his friends, so, in other words, she feels she has no control over him. The mechanics also help convey this idea because you have no control over when or if your son replies to your messages or calls.

Did your team create the art for this game during the 48 hour time slot?

Yes

We created all art during the game jam

Did your team create the audio for this game during the 48 hour time slot?

No

We used pre-existing audio

I really like the premise for the game. It's kind of like an emotion management simulator. Whenever a mechanic is tied to an emotion players just tend to like it more even if its just a button press.

There are a couple things I would like if they where changed. I like the minimal design but it doesn't communicate as much information as I would consider necessary. For basic feed back it would help if the character on screen was a little more expressive. Maybe you could add sweat symbols above her head when she is worried.

If you were to lean into that simulator feel it would be helpful to add more meters to display different feelings, and different actions to control what meters go up or down. Right now "walking" and "calling" don't feel like they do anything. So if you could express those actions with feedback it would raise the bar to a whole new level (pun intended).

I'm not sure if this was a bug with the Linux export but for whatever reason didn't hear any sound effects(?). Thanks for supporting Linux.  Very much appreciated.

The clock is something else I didn't understand when playing. Is it counting down or up? And instead of the letter "h" to signify hours, stylize the clock to look like one. And use 12-hour clock with AM/PM,  instead of military time.

It would also help if the text had its own UI element instead of following the player. Right now since the text color is white it makes it hard to read when the player isn't in the center of the room.

All in all I can see a lot of potential for this and look forward to seeing any updates. :) Would  you be ok with your game being featured in a game jam review video for my YT channel? Thanks for reading!

Thank you for all the feedback!!! You're definitely right with the calling stuff, it doesn't really give any feedback to the player, it's the first thing I started working on since the jam ended, actually. There's no sound in the game (yet, I guess hahaha), sorry if it looked like a bug. About Linux, I'm primarily a Linux user (I made/tested the game in Linux), so we have to look out for each other lol. The clock is a 24-hour clock (so it goes from 00:00 to 23:59, the game takes place from 22:00 to 6:00), I thought that it was okay, but I'll give it another look. The text is also something I've taken into account since ending the jam, it's true that it is sometimes hard to read, I'll fix that. And finally, yeah, I'm okay with my game appearing in your video, no problem :) Again, thanks the feedback!

Really nice idea, you can really feel the lack of control :D

Thanks!!! :)

Cool, I played it to the end. I did have a surprising amount of anxiety pacing up and down.

Glad everything worked out :)

Thank you for your kind comment :)

I've got the feeling of being out of control, and thematically good, but not much gameplay sadly :( I think son gets home even if you don't click anything, but I'm not sure.

Graphics though very low res, conveyed meaning and feeling.

Thank you for your comment, I'll bear that in mind when updating it :)
