Seemed a little buggy. I had a lot of buildings on top of my black hole, but none of them were being consumed. I do like the concept!

I like the idea of the black hole having different moods!  I think the main issue is that, while the goal is very clear, the losing condition is not very well communicated to the player. The artwork, music and gameplay fit each other nicely, great teamwork!

Developer(+1)

Got it will certainly look into a way of making the losing condition much clearer

It reminds me of Tasty Planet, but you play it from the perspective of a scientist. I wish the game was a bit faster and I wish the player would get more feedback when keys like E or Z are pressed.

Since you were using Unity, here's a tip for improving the graphics of the game: If there are low resolution images in your game, don't forget to set the compression of the image to 'None' and the Filter Mode to 'Clamp'. That way the textures won't look blurry at all.

Developer

Tasty Planet eh? I'm gonna have to check it out, we have a story but I'm not sure how to conclude that story so hopefully Tasty Planet can answer that question for us.

"Feedback" definitely got that on my list of things to do. Maybe we go for something nice and juicy.

Thanks for the advice really appreciate it. I'm willing to bet your your low-poly style had a big part in your graphics experience!

I enjoyed the unique mechanic of leading the black hole. Kudos for having the music and the art all done within the jam time as well!

We actually have a whole album ready, my hope is to get it all in by the next update. I hope you can check that out, I kinda it to my musician for all the work that didn't get implemented in time.

This was a very original idea!! The only thing is that i kind of liked when the black hole destroys every building hahashd, too bad a lot of people died for my fun. Anyways pretty fun game, great job!

Developer

We are going for a more villainous story here, Inot sure if we will get in a full story but we will see!

I was confused at first, but enjoyed eating for world once I got the hand of things. I'm a tad sad my run was stopped by the blackhole getting clogged. Also, when the black hole wanted to run away from me it really moved away from me. A little frustrating when buildings got scattered across the map, to be honest.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! This jam was an insane 48 hours. I hope you can stay and checkout an updated version of it where we polish the mechanics.

I look forward to it!

9:45 before the deadline? Clutch moment

I  haven't played enough games apparently to vote on this so sorry for that but I enjoyed it, will play some more after this.

Like the art on the two characters and the world art though simple does feel quite familiar to me for some reason and I like it as such.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to win the 3 times I tried, got to around 7% done then it either wouldn't pick things up for me or the gravity of it clogged up the system and wouldn't let it eat any more, not sure which but the latter seems more likely, would have to take it slow.

Purple mode was easy enough to control and orange mode easy to run from but blue didn't work so well, for me it just stayed in the start area, meaning that it'd spring from across the map with 50 things in it's orbit and spray them everywhere, good fun, also went blue quite often which could be frustrating.

If you're to continue updating it besides those I'd suggest something special for the characters, like a charged move, perhaps Lilly could force it in to orange pursuit mode and Jim could wrestle control over it from the other 2.

Sorry if this was too long a comment or if these comments aren't for that sort of thing.

Thanks for the feedback! The black hole clogging can probably be fixed in the future but until then try to "eat" objects at a slower pace and if it does get clogged, you can unclog it by making it move a large distance quickly, leaving the object clump behind. We really cut it close in this game jam though :D

I'll try much slower next time I play, maybe I'll try going in a radius around the starting area so even if it does go in to modes other than purple it'll be fine.

Good work to you all though, must've taken a lot of work to get it playable, dealing with all those physics objects and such.

Feed back is totally welcome. It was a hard to put it all together. We have alot of tweaking to do. Not sure exactly how far we go because of another Game Jam we just signed up for.
That said I really appreciate your feedback, maybe your hopes can come true!
Your comment is fine, it's filled with useful information!

I can imagine it being really hard work, yeah, you devs are amazing, closest I've ever come to programming was trying to make a custom spell in the oblvion creation kit, and it didn't work.

Gonna try taking it slow next time like your fellow dev suggested, hoping that'll solve it.

When is the next game jam due?

Developer

The next jam is due in a few months. We will be using a ongoing project for our submission, so the good news is that we have a finish by date as our goal for our project. Unfortunately that would mean less time for the current ones including this one.

(+1)

Hope you can finish the next product in time then.

Commitments are commitments so don't worry about this one for now.

I loved consuming the town. Strong Katamari vibes! Nice job!

Developer

Thanks man, I plan to make updates and fine tune the experience, there are assets that didn't make it but I'm hyped to keep working on it.
