How does your game fit the theme?
Normally, shopkeepers in RPGs sell items to adventurers and help them defeat the evil monsters. However, the Roles have been Reversed, so the shopkeeper secretly IS a monster, enticing adventurers into the dungeon so that he can sell the loot that they drop! The shopkeeper is normally an NPC that player's put a lot of faith into, and we thought that this was narratively fun to play with.

Great art, great concept, fun music (even if at least some of it is definitely borrowed)

This would really work as an actual full title!

For the downsides: After a while of playing, no adventurers spawned in anymore so I was unable to progress. Also, the battle-music cuts out after you have killed your first adventurer per wave. And this game could really benefit from you being able to sell the monsters too, instead of just the equipments. Also this game doesn't really have a difficulty-curve

A really cool idea! I could see myself playing this sort of game if it was fleshed out. Some things it would be cool to see:

  • defender stamina - perhaps depleted by adventurers, or through a few uses. At zero stamina they could "break", presenting a risk/reward scenario
  • in addition to the above if there was an indicator of what adventurers were coming into the dungeon before placing defenders, more careful thought could be placed into which and how many are used
  • a feature to "redeploy last defence" for a faster game loop
  • "auto-sell"
  • an expanded shop

Overall a great job I thought, I really enjoyed playing :)

I liked the game but after 4th night it bugged and didn't spawn adventurers which killed the run. Music is nice but unfortunately it turns off after killing first enemy. Idea and gameplay are really good tho

I think it's one the best design, to switch between two "type" of life is a good touch.

Unfortunetly there's a bug that doesnt spawn any adventurer during the dungeon protection phase which kills my run :/.

But it's a good twist on the boss theme which is quit present in this jam (even my own game xD).

SHADOW WIZARD

this is a fun idea! I love the idea of being within the monster guild instead of a hero guild, plotting all of the challenges that the heroes will end up having to face. Very cute and very fun!

Nicely done! Looks cute and the idea was cool. Would like to see this finished (Maybe you can equip your own monsters with the loot that heroes drop?)

Developer

You can actually do that already! Just drag the loot into the secondary monster slots.

A very good game, the core gameplay loop is very enjoyable, although I think it's currently too easy. A big scope for the short time too.

Hi, I really like your game. I woulkd be really greatful if you could rate our game back. FairGame Arcade
