Haio! Would ya still be looking for a team? I've decided that I'd like to make a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon -type game, but with cute slimes! And I'd obviously need an artist on my upcoming team

I personally know only very little coding (just your friendly neighbourhood game designer and a fantasy-writer ~ Not some programming-savant despite my background with a degeee in IT-Engineering and as someone who has also studied game-coding officially in school ), so I can't possibly tell you why there either were no invulnerability-frames at all or if there were, they weren't long enough. Also because I haven't seen this game's code personally
Glad you were able to find it appealing and worthwhile though, thank you! ^_^
The game's point is to be cheesed kinda. But it being "kinda not" the point at the same time is the fact that any time we tried to put a cooldown for the dash, it literally broke the code somehow. So due to time constraints, we had to cut that one out. And yes, we tried to fix it three separate times until we deemed it to not be worth the drag :'D
As for the UI, I couldn't tell you
Hope you still found this game enjoyable somehow
I could definitely tell, and I wasn't trying to be a jackass. I'm just hyper-critical in general, also my job (being a professional game-designer and all) requires me to be overly-analytical
I've given tough-love during this gamejam to both amateurs and pros alike, I'm not singling you out pal ~ Definitely. Especially I'm harsher towards people whose games have disappointed me (for example interesting premise and/or genre I like and/or great art and/or gameplay etc. but an execution and presentation that leaves much for me to desire). That is my only clear bias
You don't have to laugh at yourself. Maybe a slight, warm, friendly chuckle, as long as you learn
If you'd like help from a professional game-designer at any point, be it for another gamejam, a small project or even a bigger one, feel free to contact me through my socials which are at my calling-card: https://zeromus.carrd.co
So a great idea with just a confusing execution, I get it now. You could really benefit from a professional game-designer's second opinion in cases like these
Innovation and cool concepts are great, but your ideas must never become style-over-substance. A game must still be fun to play, no matter how nonsensical, unimaginative etc. that would make everything else
Great ideas require great execution to work, and that is a game-developers and designer's eternal balancing-act
Great character-design, great execution of the theme, great art and sprites in every aspect of the game (including the title-screen/thumbnail) great concept, lovely music. Excellent job! Fantabulous ~
With a little bit of polish, this would pass for a Steam-worthy game. This game gives me that Chrono Trigger Legend of Zelda-vibes which I'm a huge sucker for! (because of the music and artstyle, and level layout more-so from Zelda)
If you and your team would ever like to finish this game or to work on any other game-jam, or heck, even a bigger project, I'd be over the moon to participate! ^_^ You can reach out to me for that through my socials which are in my calling-card: https://zeromus.carrd.co/
Warioware but you help the player win, interesting concept. I didn't understand what was going on at first and that felt frustrating. But after I understood that concept, it became a lot easier. Still tough as nails though, especially that pong microgame seems quite impossible even now
Overall, great game, cool concept, bonus points for the voice-acting!
I believe I've seen a few games similar to this in this Jam, but this game is charming, well-made, and actually interesting. Pretty art, soothing music, great concept! Bonus points for this being Pokémon but better!
Couple of complaints though: The collisions in the bushes, trees and sometimes on the ground itself are a bit off and you can get stuck easily. It also isn't obvious where to find the trainer when you have to go through bushes whereas you can't really pass through any other obstacles prior, so it should have been just an open road leading to the trainer. Also, the timing to execute the trainer's commands is a bit short and unforgiving, or maybe that's just me
Anyway, an impressive game. If you and/or your team would like to continue working on this game, any other gamejam, or even a separate full title, I'd be honoured to be able to join you! ^_^
If you'd like to discuss that offer further, my calling-card houses my most important socials: https://zeromus.carrd.co/
Super charming, funny and an adorable game which oozes with effort, care, love and production-value, even if it hardly fits this jam's theme
I'm so impressed, in fact (and because I love visual novels), that if you and your team would ever like to participate in any other game-jam or even making a full-title, I'd love to join you guys on your endeavours ~
If you'd like to contact me for that, here's my calling-card! : https://zeromus.carrd.co/
Super-charming and adorable, too bad it makes my brain hurt since I'm not good at puzzle-games at all :'D
Anyway, this game has a great concept and is very professionally made, and the gameplay is interesting, creative and fun! If you guys participate in any other gamejams or heck, even make a bigger title, I'd love to collaborate with you guys on your journey forward!
If you'd like to discuss that, my calling-card has my social medias: https://zeromus.carrd.co/
Holy shit this is a game, maybe one of the games of all time!!!
This game references Castlevania, one of my most favourite game-series ever. Also UwU OwO vampire-mommies ojousama
Half-jokes aside: Great music, great art, great presentation, great concept, great references, really polished game with a lot of production-value. Although this game can feel a bit too difficult at the start, and if you screw up at the start 'tis very hard to come back from that and you're certain to lose, even with the upgrades. But this is more than likely my own fault since I never read the game-pages for any of these games, jump blindly in and just assume the games have instructions in-game. But I gotta say, this is literally my favourite game of this jam, and I've seen and played plenty of good ones! This game could literally be put onto Steam right now, it fills the qualifications of a finished game as is
If, however, you would like to finish this game or work on anything else going forward, I would love to collaborate with you two (since you are already making the types of games that appeal to me). Here's my calling-card: https://zeromus.carrd.co/
Great concept that would have benefitted from much-needed polish . . .
Since you all already probably know what's wrong with this game based on the game's description, I'm not going to rub salt in the wound any more than that by listing the same things again
If ya ever want to finish this game and would need help with that, contact me through https://zeromus.carrd.co/
Great art, great concept, fun music (even if at least some of it is definitely borrowed)
This would really work as an actual full title!
For the downsides: After a while of playing, no adventurers spawned in anymore so I was unable to progress. Also, the battle-music cuts out after you have killed your first adventurer per wave. And this game could really benefit from you being able to sell the monsters too, instead of just the equipments. Also this game doesn't really have a difficulty-curve
Cool idea and concept, pretty art, relaxing music, appealing character-design. I'm in love ~ This game could easily be turned into a full title with a little bit of polish. I played this game way more than I should have even if I knew there probably wasn't any ending or any sort of goal in sight
For some reason, the sprites for the heroes turn black when they return back from their adventures. But when you try to switch which hero to give a quest to, they become coloured once again
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge sucker for RPGs. But . . . not like this. This is not what you want to be doing
- I'm not sure what percentage of this game is just premade-assets. But I definitely do recognize a lot of them since I have also toyed around with RPGMaker myself in the past
- This game has no music, except in the battle-scenario and in the overworld but only when you board a random ship for . . . exdi-lolz reasons? Who gave you this ship, and why?
- At first in this game keyboard-buttons don't work and you have to operate the game using mouse. But then . . . all of the sudden, they do work?
- You are unable to pick your "sword, shield and tunic" which are just one item (of course, as they are). But then when I restarted the game, all of the sudden . . . you are?
- After defeating the first boss, all of the sudden you just gain a new party member
- The player is not able to return upstairs in their own home
You could benefit from the experience of a game-designer
