Loved the concept and the creativity that went into making this game !! Loved the simple art too, Great Work !! :D
Thank you! I used the Free Platform Game Assets pack for the artwork, it gave me enough time to focus on programming a basic platformer
I like the death sound effect so much, it made me laugh every time I die. Did you record that yourself? Anyway, nice graphic and idea, good job!
Thanks for playing. I got the sound from the Ultimate Sound FX Bundle which I purchased for another game I'm working on. I find it to be really good value and it contains sounds suitable for many different scenarios
Good concept but it just felt like a standard platformer. Even though the art is from an asset pack I like how you used it! I would make the death a little less dramatic it felt really slow to restart, and I would change the jump to space and make the restart a different key. When I played at the start and thought space was jump and WASD was to move I was very confused when I died whenever I "jumped."
Thanks for the feedback I'll keep that in mind for my next project. I was originally trying to create a drop in and out co op platformer but ran out of time
it looks really polished and i liked your conecpt. WASD would be nice
Thanks for your feedback, I'll definitely try to use WASD in future games or maybe allow both
Well done, especially for your second game jam! Cool mechanic with the effects change, and those death animations were hilarious! Good job :)
Thanks for playing. Looking to practice more in future jams
Cool game,. we had the same idea with dice-rolls affecting plateforming stats (except that in ours, you don't actually control the character after assigning the stats). Might be interesting to give the dies that affect different stats different colors, to add a bit of agency.
Thanks for playing and your feedback. Cool, that's an interesting idea, I wish I had more time this week to try everyone's games. I tried your game just now, an interesting take on the platformer genre.
I love this take on a platforming game. The death sound made me burst out laughing, the contrast between the cutesy art style and the defeat sequence was just too hilarious! The only criticism I have is that Jump is required for some areas, but the dice don't give it to you very often - or if they do, it may be too low of a level to be useful.
Thanks for playing I got the sounds from the Ultimate Sound FX Bundle and the art from the Free Platform Game Assets pack. I completely agree. The last 24 hours was a big struggle and I barely had time to test the game
Interesting game, made alone in only 48 hours, it's nice. With the level punishing high jump, I was wondering how other abilities will be used later, but I guess 48h was to short to add new challenges in the following levels. I like the sounds, quiet and peaceful, followed by a sudden death sound. By the way, I can't imagine from where comes the bug (or if it is a feature :p ), but the space bar kill instantaneously the player :P
Thank you for playing I'd like to try your game Trolling The Dice (alongside many other games) too when I get some free time, it looks pre funny. That's intentional, if you feel you're running out of time you can press spacebar to die and restart (there is a glitch where you die twice though as I was trying to implement 2 player split screen initially and ran out of time)
this game is cool
Fun game, though I feel the timer could be a bit more generous at first.
Thanks for playing, some levels (most levels) haven't been tested much and are probably a bit too difficult
Cool idea for a game! the modifier gimmick is definitely welcome, though at times I found it more annoying than anything. The only useful modifiers were either small body (because of wall jump, dunno if a bug or a feature) or high jump. The first few levels felt a lot more curated because of traps on the roof, punishing high jump, and learning the mechanics. I don't think there should have been 10 levels, unless you were introducing more mechanics in the later levels. The later levels felt a bit rushed and uninspired.
I definitely liked how the size of your character affected the music speed, and I definitely got a jumpscare when I died for the first time, hahaha.
when I got a good modifier, I tend to avoid the dice, but at one point in the earlier levels one of the coins was hidden behind a dice, so it was slight BS.
Anyway, congrats on submitting for the game jam!
I was not aware of wall jumping, you've probably discovered a bug. The only levels I spent time on were the first 2 and yeah the rest were rushed. Maybe I should've kept it short as I don't think the remaining 8 are very good, in the end I ran out of time. The music speed up and slow down is something I may re use in the future. Haha yeah you can just roll a decent jump and avoid every other die. Thanks for you feedback
Had a LOT of fun with this game!
Thanks for playing. I will be trying out more game jams and hope to learn and improve along the way
The modifiers were so cool to mess around with! Amazing game!
Thank you for playing. My first 48 hour jam, looking forward to the next
Very unique game! Interesting how you can roll different dice to get different modifiers to make the game harder or easier at different segments.
Thanks for playing and for your feedback, I just tried yours too
Very cute game, I like how the dice rolls change your character and all the different obstacles you have to try to avoid! Timed element also gives an extra bit of challenge.
Thanks for playing, I found it was too easy without the timer so it was added in towards the end. Your game is awesome btw
