Wow interesting game! It was neat to be able to populate an originally barren land with some humble bamboo! I liked being able to track the location of the bonsai boys via their yelling and that giving me a clue to their proximity. They were very scary enemies! Would love to see this continue to get fleshed out even more and expanded!

Yeah, I really didn't understood what to do, maybe a tutorial inside the game would have been a good idea.

Fair point. Didn't have enough time to do that, it's my own fault for getting involved so late in the jam. That's why I wrote a short description with the goal and controls on the itch.io page, but I guess nobody reads that.

Maybe a little text when you start the game could have been okay, but don't worry, Ialso  didn't made a good tutorial for my game XD.

Now that I got the game working, I found that it’s impossible to play: My movement speed is literally how a Snail would walk. It’s impossible to escape the Bonzai Boys like this. Contrary to the instruction manual, nothing happens when I click. The Bonzai Boys screaming is very annoying, which could be good if the game actually worked.

Do yourself a favor and Absolutely stay clear of this game.

Objectively untrue for other players. I've watched people play it live with perfect functionality. If it's broken it's a problem on your end, not mine. Vimino mentioned no such trouble on his Linux once the .pck solution was found. It's a dumb little game I made in less than 24 hours, but I will not have it slandered as non-functional when I have recorded proof of the contrary.

I’m happy to hear that this game works for most players. I must’ve just been unlucky with my computer.

I just heard Banzai Boys screaming as they ran towards me but I couldn't even see them or run away. Ah, seems like I had to press "P" to change perspective and "J" to move faster.

The Linux executable is missing the PCK file. Thankfully the one coming with the Windows version works as a replacement.

Glad you found a way to fix it, I told the other Linux user who was having trouble as well. Dashing with shift is even faster than the auto-jog and best for getting away from the BBs swiftly. Walking is for when you've got enough distance from them to breathe and plant bamboo peacefully.

I have an error if I attempt to run the game on Linux: The .pck file is missing.

Developer

That's on me Sosasees. Luckily Vimino found an easy solution:

"the one coming with the Windows version works as a replacement."

So, just download the windows file and use the .pck from it, you'll be good to go!

Cute game.  Not a lot of incentive to play for long though.

I agree, nodeg. I made it in the last 24 hours of the jam, so sacrifices had to be made. It functions as a game, but it definitely doesn't have enough content to do more than toss Ben over mountains for a few fun minutes.

Edit: The bugfix has been pushed. Have fun!
