Very good game, it was fun seeing you develop the game and watching Moe make puzzles. I am definitely going to get involved very soon :)

I didn't know I was the secondary character in one of the jam games too! Cool!

This was really fun and I would have kept playing if it didn't start *crawling* (like "a toddler chasing a kitty" crawling) in frame rate for me. One of the downsides of getting a middle-shelf laptop for doing dev. I really liked the feel though, and your puzzles were really creative. The music was nice and fitting. I think my biggest concern with the graphics was that the snow made it kinda hard to see because of how the background had the same color in a pattern and how frequent the snow was. Nice work on this one though!

P.S. I did find the secret puzzle, but that's where I stopped because of frame rate issues. Super cool!

thank you so much for playing! Honestly I almost quit the jam cause my laptop couldn’t even handle the frame rate that I made the game on (better in desktop). But most of the raters had gamer computers so I got lucky!

also the character wasn’t based on you lol, it was my friend who I forced to make a sprite

The mechanics are cool, and the different environments are nice. The music felt a bit saturated, I don’t know if it was only on my side.

I enjoyed playing it, even tho I’m not super good a puzzle games!

Congrats for your entry :)

Thank you so much for your feedback!

Puzzles are solid at that ice part. My favorite puzzle was the one made by your friend Moe, I can see how their Mario Kart skills came in handy to make us suffer, hahaha! It was difficult, but playing 5D chess and planning where each stone needed to be in order for everything to just fit together in the end is very rewarding. The music was also really good but I had a lot of crackling from it, it was probably clipping. I think the last level a was bit of a let down, everything prior to it was about thinking and planning your moves, and then the last level was about looking around moving slowly and carefully not to fall. Weird change of pace, I guess? The whole game also reminded me a lot of the Pokemon caves, all of the mechanics and even the tile based movement and are present there, except maybe for the interaction of pushing stones on the ice. Solid entry overall, good job!

Thank you so much for your comment! Literally!!!! I love pokemon and I tried to base the game off of it, even the characters and rock mechanics. I guess it turned out great! I really appreciate the feedback. Good Luck and I hope you place in the top three for the game jam!

Whoa, thank you so much! I also really like Pokemon and never noticed how their puzzle mechanics could make for good puzzles, not until I played your game to be honest. I think it's because they never actually advanced it, I mean, they always kept things at a surface level, most modern games these days are afraid to deeply explore their own mechanics because they want no hardship or frustration in them, which is understandable but is also a bit sad, at least in my opinion.

Also, the crackling on the audio of your game, do you know exactly what causes it? I'm asking because I've struggled a lot with it previously and I feel like it's either ignorance on my part about audio (I know very little about it) and Godot, given how I've only seen this problem in Godot games but I'm not sure. Now that I'm asking it I feel weird, like, if you knew how to fix it the game probably wouldn't have it, but eh, no harm in trying. I think my game might even have this crackling in some points in it, I'm not 100% sure and I absolutely despise it, I have a history with it, hahahaha, all I know is I have to keep the volume under 0db but that's not enough.

Developer

Yeah, it comes down to a CPU overload actually. When you run a block of code, it exceutes all at once, making your game wait until its finished. I actually do pause and play the audio during the transition between screens, but because it all exceuictes at once, it stops, and then starts imediatly, not allowing the game to actually do so. I also load so much memory between transitions that it differs from the normal runtime CPU load, making it sound glitchy.

This also stems from another HTML problem: threads. These make it so a block of code runs one frame at a time, but HTML, for whatever reason, is unable to run them. Wierd right? I was actually worried my game was unplayable because, on an older computer, it becomes so laggy that by puzzle 5 its unplayable.

Really appreciate the back-and-forth feedback btw.

What a fun game. The puzzles were challenging. The music was nice. The lighting was great. Good job guys. My only issue is that I don't feel it followed the theme much. Great game though!

Solid entry! Polished, didn’t run into any bugs. Nice variety of levels and styles per stage. Also Moe is a cruel level designer, that one took me a minute. It was also a nice ahah and twist for a game like this to actually have a puzzle rely on you restarting at least once, almost wish more of that concept was played with somehow. Nice blend fo 3D and pixel art, which isn’t easy to pull off. I didn’t get to unlock the secret level but I do feel my curiosity itch, maybe I’ll come back and give it a go.

edit I also highly appreciate how meta/third wall breaking the NPCs were, good stuff

The music is very good, hats off to BossyDuck! The puzzles were very challenging, also I got stuck on the second level lol.

Developer

Thank you! Sorry that you got stuck in the second level. The NPC actually has a hint for you if you talk to him again. Thanks again!

Developer

Thank you so much! The tunes are awesome, I didn't expect my music genius to make them so well
