Nice concept but like others have mentioned i would like to get a bit more time to gradually build up to the high speed :) good visual feedback on the bumps.a bit more information on the timer that appears to be there could be good. Also not clear what the restart button does?

Developer

hey! thanks for feedback!! so I made this update to the game after the jam ended so i posted as a separate game project on itch. i have fixed lot's of bugs, added some nice features, and made levels 'hand-crafted'. if you have time, please check it out and if you have more time, please give feedback in the google form that is linked in the description of the game. <3

Oh yeah, this is a great improvement! I like that I get to retry levels after I fail them. Lvl 4 was a nice puzzle too :) Currently stuck on level 9.

Not sure if I understand why there is a pause button though?

Feature requests would be to have a main menu with an overview of the levels (with opportunity to replay).

Edit: Finished level 9 too now and looped around :) Very entertaining, can see myself playing this as a great timewaster.

Kind of like sokoban but on an extreme timer!  And while I like the idea, it's too fast and doesn't allow people to learn what to do and how it works.  So, if you expand on this, think of how to teach the player to play with some simpler, slower levels at first, and then go crazy!  Could be a good mobile game!

To me this is the standout underdog of the jam by a longshot. The fact you made this in five hours is pretty astonishing, and it's an absolutely addicting concept. It absolutely would make a fantastic hypercasual mobile game, and I hope you follow through with it.

I think from the stream I already outlined my basic thoughts, but these are definitely what I think you need to really drive it home::

  • It is annoying that you have to "pass" coins to collect them. Maybe it is intentional (I think you said it wasn't) but it's a bummer when you JUST barely grab that last coin with one valid move left but it doesn't count because you don't have any more spaces to move.
  • It definitely needs some kind of win-lose condition and some kind of screen that clearly let's you know when you beat a level or you ran out of time and game-overed (or even just some kind of jingle might work).
  • A small countdown might help at the start of the level to prevent you dying when it immediately starts. That, or maybe the countdown doesn't start until the player makes the first move.
  • Like the other person said, there are a lot of times when the level generates impossible levels so figuring out an algorithm to make sure 100% of the levels are winnable would be important if you want this kind of infinite random casual game.

I think if you can carry through and add a little polish, this is gonna be a game people potentially obsess about like Candy Crush or Flappy Bird or something. It has a ton of potential despite (or maybe because) it being so simple

I really liked the concept of this game, I would like to see you expand on it. I think it would make for a great mobile release! The procedural generation needs some work, lots of levels that were unwinnable and a few that blocked me in completely (no chance to collect any coins).. Considering the short amount of time you had to work on it, well done!
