Loved it! The movement was smooth, art was great and I especially liked the music.

Only thing I found is that the hitbox for the sword attack was quite a bit larger than the animation suggested.

Developer

We're so glad you liked it @Burd! ๐Ÿ™Œ

I faced a dilemma with the hitbox of the sword attack... The animation has low reach, so the game was too hard. I increased the hitbox of the attack too generously to counter-balance. The problem now is that it's hard to read! Ideally, we would have changed the animations, but they came in an asset pack ๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Not enough time!

The sound and the grafics and details make the game wanted to get played ;)

For my taste it is missing a very unique feature that makes the game different from other platformers, but on the other hand the dynamic enemies make the game interesting.

I played your game:

Oh man, it's AMAZING that you played our jam entry on YouTube ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™Œ. Thanks so much for the kind words and the feedback. We didn't spend as much time as we wanted balancing the game. We also know that it's missing some special mechanic and possibly an end goal to keep you going. However, it was super nice to see you fail at the beginning, then get better and actually get to a pretty decent score! ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿค˜

It was my pleasure!  ๐Ÿ˜Š

That is true: The game teaches a very steep learning curve.

Solid game. Great art and sound. I wasn't able to get very far and I kept running out of bullet power. The dash comes in handy though.  The controls felt pretty good though I often felt like I could barely make some jumps.  Nice job and thanks for sharing the source code.

Thanks for the feedback! We did not have much time to balance the game really. For example, bullets/damage and enemy hitboxes may be too punishing whilst the dash is clearly overpowered ๐Ÿ˜….

Don't look at the code too much! It was all done in a rush! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Holy moly man, this is great. The music, art, the whole thing is just great. I mayyyybe agree with someone above who said a human touch in the levels would be welcome, but building a procgen system in time to submit a jam game is quite impressive, nice job!

Developer

We really appreciate your feedback ๐Ÿ™. If we had had more time, we would have surely spent more time on tweaking the proc level generator to give more structure and sense of purpose to the player's progression. But not enough time! โณ

Great game, I loved the art and nice touches like the anticipation of the floating enemy before they shoot you; after I learned the timing I became good at evading them. Also liked that you have finite bullets even though I didn't notice it in the first playthrough. That really adds more depth to the experience.
I agree with other comments that the sound felt a bit off, and I also felt the concept is a bit generic, as if it could fit many different themes shoes by changing the artstyle.

Developer

We really appreciate the feedback! ๐Ÿ‘

We used a third party asset pack that included the anticipation in the attack animation of the floating brain. I wish it had come with the same for the other enemies, would have make them a lot more readable...

With more time, we would have added some unique mechanic to the mix ๐ŸŒŸ

Super smooth game, I love the art. I think the voice samples could definitely be improved.

Also, I felt like there wasn't a ton to do. Maybe this game would be more suited to pre-made levels rather than procedural generation?

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback and playing the game!

The art was from a pack we found on itch.io ๐Ÿ˜…. I thought the voice samples would add a bit of "fun" or "personal touch" to the game but I had to record them with my laptop's built-in microphone. NOT a good idea ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

We went for procedural levels because of the "random" theme. Maybe given more time, we would have added extra content/variation and maybe secondary objectives like rescuing friendlies.

Oh wow, really intense stuff man! The only thing I was left craving was a bit more of a purpose that survive, but this was a bloody solid proof of concept!

Developer

Thanks, much appreciated ๐Ÿ™.

Given more time, we could have come up and implemented secondary objectives or mechanics. With we'd had the time โณ!

The overall style is really cool. I like the dark tone, and the fluid animations.
The voice sample seams a little bit off. Its too loud and its quality dont matches the great pumping Soundtrack.

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback @tiwa, it's much appreciated. For the voice sample, I simply recorded myself with my laptop microphone, which is pretty poor quality. I then did some processing with Audacity. I can maybe look into cleaning it up!
