Congrats on your first GWJam! I love the movement, and the sprites and particle effects look really good. I'll echo what others said in that the ui leaves a bit to be desired, and some nice firing and explosion sounds could really help sell the sensations. But really, good work so far!

Simple but good. I don't understand what is the cooldown of the shot and the collision box of the ship seems really big.

I liked the spaceship design and the lore and the 'gradius' vibe. I also agree with some other reviewers that it was difficult to see the UI. I didn't realize till my second playthrough that the magazine count was at the top middle.

I really liked the sound and the ability to remap buttons was a nice touch.  I enjoyed playing it. nice job

Fun little space shooter, I like the bigger scope that the story implies, The sprite work and title art are really good, the only tiny nitpick for the visuals is that, it's a shame that you have default UI elements and text :(

also small issue gameplay wise, the magazine with limited shots and a reload cooldown feels a bit akward :

I'd say you could improve this by having either :

- just one shot with a clear cooldown to help the player learn the rythm

- or keep it as is, but have either a counter or a bar to visualize the reload time

But other than that it looks great, and plays well, solid entry, good job :)

Hi! I made very similar game called also Escape Velocity. (Check my profile)

I played your game and main problem is UI. It's very small and I didn't noticed it at first.

I also didn't noticed that there is limited amount of bullets in magazine. It was confusing.

But I like particle effects on collision!
