I like the cohesive art, and the map-integrated instructions, kill counter and timer bar. It felt like a complete vision. Congratulations on accomplishing your stated goal of making a top-down shooter in a game jam :)

Was pretty fun overall! It felt super easy and then- wasn't. Not sure how high I made it, would be nice to get some sort of game over overlay before the restart with some basic info like how far you made it. But in general I liked it, and I really liked the clean and simple pixel aesthetic.

Good job! ^^

Fun little top-down shooter with good game "juice" through the big chonky bullets and screen shake. Had a few problems when I would accidentally click off screen with my mouse when moving, and this would make my character stuck moving in whatever direction I was holding when I clicked off, but other than that no problems.

One code thing I noticed is that the player actually moves quicker when you're moving diagonally vs. when you're moving straight to the side or vertically. Since I've fallen into this trap before and I am 99% sure what's causing it, I wanted to let you know so that you could learn for your future projects!

I'm assuming you move the character by moving them X amount of distance to the left when they hold down the left key, X amount of distance down when they hold the down key, etc. But if the player holds down BOTH, they will actually end up moving further than the basic X distance if you move them X distance left and X distance down - think of it how the diagonal distance of a square is longer than any of the sides. In Godot, the way to solve this is to use the Vector2 '.normalized()' function when adding the movement. You can search it up to find more info, but the '.normalized()' function basically returns a Vector2 that has the same direction as the original vector, but a length of 1. You can then multiply the new returned vector by whatever speed you want the player to have to change the length.

Good game, fun graphics, and nice job!

To be honest, I love the fact that you made the enemy the carrots, I have never thought of it that way! The art was cute and beautiful(although I'd prefer for the player and enemy to be a bit bigger). The control and goal was clear as well.

I had a fun time playing your game. However, there were some problems that I had during my playtime, especially the enemy spawn locations in combination with their continuous arena-wide range to shoot at the player. This makes playing the game feels like you're supposed to bunker in a corner and take a peek to shoot a few bullets each time, especially frustrating with the player's slow movement. I don't know if that's intended or not. Another problem is that while I absolutely love the UI bar that is in the terrain, it is kinda hard to track when you have to be in the open when enemies are shooting at you from everywhere.

For me, that was definitely the biggest drawback. Besides that, there were some minor bugs such as having a wall between you and the running carrots making them getting stuck(maybe you can use navigate 2D for this?) and the player control drifting once for me. I also think that maybe you could have add more juice into your game by  adding effects, upping the volume of your shooting sound effect and add a bit more screen shake when the player shoot.

"Well this is easy" - I thought to myself...5seconds after I was running for my life from a bigillion of murderous vegetables.

All in all pretty fun for a while, but get hard way too fast.

And 1 notice, please stop the game or exit the player to main menu or something after they die

That's a solid game. Things get hectic in no time at all. Very fun game, congratulations.
