Oh man I love these space hedgehogs! And the rabbit on the speeder xD. I noticed I placed three hedgehogs on top of each other in the tutorial but everything was fine... The completed hedgehog zones blocking the rabbit was a really nice touch, felt like blocking the AI in Civ with the threat of declaring war haha.
Not much to say that hasn't been said, it's really stable and polished, and I love all the little art touches you did :)
Really fun game, and a pretty novel concept in my opinion...
My main problem with the game was some quality-of-life issues. There were a bunch of little things that made it a little more annoying to play:
- When trying to speed up growing, I would often accidentally place a new hedgehog instead. I'm not quite sure as I can't seem to access the levels now that I won the game, but it seemed like some levels were only giving me 4 hedgehogs? I think they were correctly giving me 5, but I was often misclicking one and ended up with only 4 hedgehogs that I was aware I had actually placed.
- I would often lose a level very quickly, and as far as I can tell, there is no way to quickly restart a level. My best bet would be to place down all my hedgehogs as fast as possible, but sometimes they would get hit by the rabbits and I would have to place them again.
- It seemed like there was no way to cancel a hedgehog placement--on occasion I would start placing one by accident and want to cancel that action.
But aside from these little inconveniences, the game was quite enjoyable. I also agree that the difficulty progression seemed quite reasonable.
Thanks for the feedback! Very valuable points to keep in mind for future iterations, I’ll add them to our issue tracker.
I’m glad you enjoyed the game :)
Oo love the music, it was so good!
The game was interesting to play for the first time.
Thanks, I’m very self conscious about the music since it’s not my strong point and our usual music/sound guy was not able to participate this time.
Really good game. The sprites and the title are super funny and it's a lot of fun to play.
One little thing that annoyed me a bit was the music button in the upper right corner. Whenever I wanted to deploy the decoy bunny in the that corner I hit the button instead. Anyway, good job :)
Good feedback. The music button was a last-minute addition because I was worried the music was annoying and we didn’t really have time to make it more functional.
Definitely something to improve.
I’m glad you enjoyed the game :)
Interesting game, and a pretty difficult one! Nice. Maybe a little smaller hitbox on the rabbit? Congrats!
The title already had me XD
the game itself is also pretty good i really like the humor
Mechanics are simple to get into, spritework is pretty dope, i particularilly like the hovebike bunny i also really like the fact that your music sounds very 90's dos midi (but in a good way)
Had a good laugh and a good time :)
This was a great game! I loved the art and sound and the gameplay was pretty balanced. I was able to play through the whole game. Not sure if I wanna join the Hedgemony though...
But really, I'm amazed by the difficulty. It's the number one thing game jam games fail at imo. But you did it good (At least for me). Very good difficulty curve, in my opinion.
Great stuff!
Thanks for the feed back. Balance is super tough in game jams, because you know the inner workings and are practicing through development, and with little to no input from others to evaluate difficulty. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
