I got lost in what to do. After reading the comments, I do think the first level is too hard to learn the controls.

Clever concept, but I'm afraid I didn't get very far, as I found the jumping controls quite frustrating. Still, the art and music lent themselves well to the atmosphere.

Thanks! Yeah, the difficulty of the wind\jumping seems to be a theme in the feedback. :P Wanted to add a difficulty setting to somehow deal with that, but decided in favor of adding more content.

the thunder kept going off right next to me and it was SO LOUD lol

The game looks very nice and I'm impressed by the amount of content you managed to put in it. The soundtrack is very strange, but I really liked it! It has a really good eerie feel.

I managed to reach the part that reset the game and couldn't find any way to progress from there. It's unfortunate because I really wanted to experience the full game!

Movement is way too slow for this being a platformer though - I must have played this game for over half an hour without progressing very much. Some jumps were really confusing as they were barely reachable and therefore I thought there had to be other ways to progress. The game reminds me a bit of Yume Nikki, which also has slow movement, but for the platforming parts (especially the ones without the wind mechanic) I would've liked some faster movement in general (and my pinky did not appreciate the run button... existing, haha).

The time based wind mechanic is also a bit frustrating. I like the way it's used for the platforming, but I think just having it be constant wind and just holding a button to ride it would be more satisfying.

The voice acted monologue was a fun part of the game and should have been utilised more. It could really help with progressing in the game if voice lines were used when you made progress with something.

Thanks for the feedback! Impressed you got there, despite the experience. I intend to sort of continue the "series" in the next GWJ, and make a more full game after doing a number of them. I will try to incorporate your ideas into the next one. Probably do a toggle run instead, and make you a bit faster.

Nice textless!

I had a hard time with the jumping though. Felt like the margin was close to none for the first jumps, and I often fell down and had to start over. Maybe could have been a little more forgiving first and ramp up the difficulty later!

Good atmosphere in the game!

Thanks for feedback! Yeah, meant to add a difficulty setting, but worked on other things to close to submission instead.

Interesting game. I kinda like always those more weird games where some weird stuff happens. The way you used the Wind Wildcard is pretty cool! The representation is also nice. The music and sounds kept me laughing all time.

(I had also the issue not knowing the wind direction, before reading the comments here.)

Developer

That's what I set out to do. Glad it entertained you! And that explaining the compass helped (I'll update that in the description). In retrospect I maybe shouldn't have done the Textless Wildcard, given I didn't do any picture tutorials.

Rather difficult game, but generally a cool idea. I'm not sure if I got to the end, I ended up in a loop, but maybe I've missed something - was there something passed the second platform with the 4 pegasi facing each other. The music was fitting the atmosphere very well here. :)

Thanks! Yeah, there's a bit more. I tried to hint about it with the other two walls with the upside down doors. Let me know if you just want me to give it away. I don't know if there's a way to mark spoilers in a post on here or not, or a direct message, maybe?

I think in order to jump forwards you have to use the left and right keys of WASD to rotate the player, and remember what angle you’re facing? I like the aesthetic but the controls were very frustrating, I would be running forwards and jump and fly backwards instead.

Developer

The wind direction is indicated in the top right compass. When the arrow's red, it will send you flying in that direction. When the wind's not going (the arrow's white), you can jump normally. But yeah, I recognize it could take some getting used to.

I had the same issue. It was very frustrating until I have read that comment here. If you know that this is indicating the wind direction it gets easier to handle.

OHH that makes so much sense haha my bad. I thought that was a minimap

Damn that was a strange game :D Pretty hard too! I think the controls could be a bit more responsive (easy to learn) but overall, really strange but solid game! The environment reminded me of the view you would probably have on the tongue of a person.

Thanks! I thought a similar thing when the mountains ending up looking like teeth. ;)
