Game Description
You are a water ninja. You slice fire enemies. After extensive training, you managed to drain rain puddles to refill your powers.

How does your game tie into the theme?
We used the "Rain" part of the theme. As a water ninja, you fight fire enemies using your water powers, which you recharge using rain puddles.

I couldn't figure out the controls. I was able to kill one fire dude, but not sure how. If we had our teacher show us how to fight, then send us off to fight the rest later. You can give the player an option to skip the tutorial.

This is a fun game! I was a little confused with the controls at first, but after I read you could move with WASD, I got really into it. The attacks felt heavy and satisfying and it was fun to chain attacks while still in slow motion. Would be cool to see a kill count and highest combo during each run!

Developer(+1)

Hey! Thanks for playing! You can see a kill count mid run if you press ESC (pause menu). A combo system is something we will implement after the jam!

Solid submission, congrats!

I really loved the light and sound effects, and the animations of the models are fantastic! I had a bit of difficulty with the controls, but probably I'm just a poor player :P Anyway, the idea of dashing through the enemies is beautifully implemented. Cool game!

Thanks a lot for playing and the kind feedback :D

very fun! i even got this cool score

btw if you die while in slow mo the death screen fade in and the intro also became slow mo which was kinda funny lmao

Developer

Holy crap! I think this is our new high score! Congrats and thanks for playing :D

Didn't know how the slashing mechanic worked initially, just clicked once in one spot to no effect, so died a couple times without killing any of the fire enemies. :P But after I figured it out, managed to get 21 of them. :) So yeah, after getting past my confusion over the controls, pretty fun!

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing! Yeah we heard similar feedback a lot where the controls were unclear at first but then the game was fun ^^

Great entry. Took a bit to get going, but then it turned out to be really fun :) The game seems also pretty balanced to me, I can imagine this being a game that you could want to master. Nice!

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing! Yeah we should have put WASD tutorial hints up there.   We might continue working on this game after the jam!

Very fun mechanic! My record was 28 kills, not sure if that is much. :D

Developer

Its pretty good! Thanks for playing :)

It's a nice game, I loved the concept and I definitely think this game has potential, but it has some issues that blocks me out from the fun.

-The fact that you will stop moving when you ran out of water is not taught to us, I had to figure it out for myself.
-I didn't liked how you need to go to certain place to refill your meter.
-The meter drains very fast, and the refilling is very slow, leaving you defenseless most of the time.
- There's no way to save yourself if you ran out of water. Hopefully there's some skills or an emergency water pack as a "2nd life"
-I have no way to check how much water I have left unless I hold my mouse, which actively wastes it. It'd be nice to just keep the meter on the interface all of the time.

Though the controls are very smooth, the art and music fits the theme and mood of the gameplay. Good work on this game! :)

Thanks a lot for playing! Just in case: Did you notice you can move with WASD? A lot of players seem to didnt notice that at first :D
Anyway, I agree with you that there might need to be further balancing!

Oh, I totally didn't noticed it! I think it's because you only had the mouse icon on the instructions screen, so that kind of just narrows down our thoughts that we only need to mouse to play it.
I can finally enjoy more of this game now hahaha
With this kind of game, I think adding a combo system would be very nice!

I love the game concept and the art style, there is a lot of potential in this game. My highest score is 17! There are some issues here and there which I will list:

1) Game didn't load up properly and almost crash, it took very long to load as well and all of a sudden I am already dead in the game
2) Had to figure out how the game works like right click to absorb the water puddles and left click drag to throw the ninja at the fire enemies, I think having the controls or instructions listed will be ideal
3) It became very overwhelming with the number of enemies, so a gradual scale of difficulty would make the game much more fun and enjoyable.

Overall, once figuring out the control and the game mechanics, I had a lot of fun.

We do actually display hints when you first load up the game. The first hint is an icon for the left mouse button when you havent dashed before and the second hint is an icon for right mouse button when you enter a puddle and havent pressed RMB (recharge) before. Maybe we should've made those a little more obvious (they are in the middle of the screen but maybe a brighter color?)

Regarding 1) I cant really say what causes this, but in my experience, this only appears the first time the game loads. Starting the game (or even the .exe a second time is way faster)
3) Yeah balancing might need to be adjusted. I think currently it is best if you play pretty agressive so you take out the enemies quickly.

Thanks a lot for the valuable feedback and playing!

It's hard to understand how to dash. But when I figured it out the game became fun to play.

It's cool that our games have a similar idea: collect rain to kill fire:)

Developer

Ohh right :D Thanks for playing!
