Very interesting concept, I agree it was a bit difficult. The speed of the thrown torch was a bit jarring to me, but very clever design overall. Thank you for sharing!
Yeah I wasn't able to get any playtesters until after I submitted so I wasn't aware how difficult it was .
So you have to throw the torches across the chasm to find the blocks to move onto. Love the concept! Kinda like Squid Games/Last Crusade or something. I really like the death sound effect. Music choice is good. I beat the first stage then stopped because I think the sudden camera movements when throwing was getting to me. Maybe just let it smoothly zoom out and back in instead. It'd be nice if the thrown torches lit the sides of adjacent squares. Wouldn't take away too much from the difficulty.
When right clicking from the start, add an animating torch graphic so it prepares the throw. Then on mouse button release, throw the torch. In my mind, I think that would feel better. You could also put in a mini-game with a meter to add throw strength.
I'll definitely add your suggestions to the game after the voting period is over. Thank you for commenting!
It was a bit difficult to understand the game. But I was able to figure it out. You can only go where there are blocks that you can see by throwing the torch. Interesting idea.
I apologize for the lack of clarity. Ran out of time to make specific gameplay things more obvious
This game is a little confusing for me. I could only throw the torch once, and I started to guess where I had to go after that.
I figured out what the problem could be: you can't throw torches outside of the start area (by design), so if you tired to throw a torch from the first block for example then it wouldn't work. You have to plot out your movement before taking any steps
