I'm really impressed with how much work was put into the game, down to knives still being stuck in the cliff after tossing them. The level is designed beautifully and it was fun that instead of just becoming harder as the game progressed, some changes were for better and some were for worse. The constant references to his wife made me think of Columbo, though maybe that is not the reference you are going for?
It's always nice to find a game that actually does both left and right hand controls, though it would be nice if the space bar jumped too, since I kept instinctively trying to use it to jump at first. (Perhaps you left it out due to the control changes at the end?) I eventually figured out to use arrows to move and W to jump.
Wow haha that's a really nice feedback! Yep I kept the simple WASD movement only because of the control changes at the end, but now I feel like it wasn't worth it lol, having some nicer controls would have been better. I'm gald you enjoyed the game! For the references to the wife haha I just didn't know what could David say between the rounds so I just came up with this wife idea randomly!
Had a fun time ๐๐ฎ.
GAMEPLAY
This game shines with its fun factor. The narrative is humorous, and the broken physics theme is funny displayed. Engaging with the various effects enhances the gameplay experience, although getting a high score gets a bit into the background because of that.. A suggestion for improvement could be assigning the spacebar for throwing actions to ease the controls slightly. Controls were not super smooth but good enough.
ART STYLE / VISUALS
The visuals are a pixel art style that's carried well throughout the game. The weapon effects like bouncing and especially the knives sticking to the robots, add a funny and enjoyable visual element.
AUDIO / SOUND DESIGN
The 8-bit kind of music is a perfect fit for the game's graphics, adding to the fun ambiance. The clever touch of music syncing with the time slowdown is plus, creating an complete audio-visual experience.
THEME
The theme of broken physics is well-integrated, especially with various effects occurring during gameplay. It's a light-hearted and enjoyable interpretation of the theme.
All in all, this game is a bundle of joy to play with the theme cleverly woven into the gameplay. A great entry indeed. Top-notch fun! ๐ Keep it up.
Wow haha thanks a lot for this epic feedback! Totally agree with you for the throwing key!
That was fun to play! Good use of the theme.
Thanks a lot!
Haha what a fun way to mix up all the different broken physics aspects. Thank you for that
I'm glad you liked it!
what did the robots do to this poor guy? :( i think pressing down to attack felt kinda not the best, would've preferred another key for it. I know it was partly due to gravity changing but I felt like the jump was always too floaty at first and too heavy after the peak, so I really struggled to feel in control of my character. Seemed like the best thing to do was always just hop down in the hole and kill the brown robots.
Yeah the hole is the easiest way to get points if it felt difficult for you to get to the higher platforms due to the gravity lol. Thanks for the feedback!
