Awesome job KV! I really enjoyed playing through this entry :)

Good clean fun! Nice job making so much of the environment interactive, and funny dialog.

Developer

Thanks for the review. They dialog is definitely the best part of the game, something I hope to carry over to future projects.

I need VXAce to play

Developer

Actually you just need to download the RTP, which is free: https://www.rpgmakerweb.com//run-time-package

I don’t know why it needs that since I included all of the needed assets in the download, but that’s just a VX Ace quirk, I guess.

Harold Immortal! Fun and quick adventure. Loved the little snippets you put on items all around. Very Harold for sure. And cool use of the VX sprites! I decided to think outside the box and got myself killed at the snake boss first thing. Also more games need cow shopkeepers.

Developer

Thanks, Human! Glad you enjoyed it. Moo! 🐮

Love the writing! Who needs to read when you are immortal?

Developer

Thanks, Nowis! Glad you enjoyed the dialog.

I had trouble with the battles.
Because I am really bad at battles.
But I really enjoyed the heck out of them once I managed to figure out what I was supposed to do!

The map is charming enough, and the chatter between the characters was fun. They felt like individuals and that's always a bonus.
Harold was very Jam for brains Harold, and it enhanced the whole Harold experience.
I liked it and I think you did a good job with it!

If you would be ever so kind to take a look at my game, please. I didn't make it in time for the jam, and my Harold is not nearly as Harold as yours,  but I would appreciate it none the less!

Thanks for the feedback, glad you were able to figure out the battles and have fun. I’m also glad you enjoyed the writing - that was my favorite part of making this game too. I’ll try to make time for your game.

Overall I liked it!

The quality of the writing and characterizations really sold it for me - even once I had "solved" a room I had to go around clicking all the interactables just to see those text boxes.

The battles are pretty simplistic, but that's fine for this kind of a format. It would have been nice if there were strategies other than "spam your 100 TP moves to win" (and I tried just for giggles) but it did allow the game to focus on the goofy dialog and, well, the more fun parts.

One thing you can try for similar concepts in the future, perhaps make each character the "star" of whatever section they correspond to. Like maybe the "M" boss is weak to Marcia's special or something. That said, it doesn't need to be super complex, just a bit more depth would be ideal.

Developer

Thanks, Moogle! The character-focused room is a good idea, I’ll have to remember it if I use this format again.

Oh hey, another VX Ace submission! The interactivity and dialogue were the highlights of this game for sure. It makes my heart so happy seeing Harold as dumb and naive as ever. I almost put a gag like the flowerpot into Stuck In The Past but ultimately decided against it. One gripe I have is that you start with a lot of attacks so it's a bit hard to get used everything at first. The supers are a bit too unbalanced compared to the rest of the attacks IMO. Once I was able to build up the TP, one or two supers and the enemies went down. Nice submission!

Thanks for the feedback, DJ! Glad you enjoyed it. I decided to try VX Ace out just to see what it's like. Thanks for the feedback, I'll use it to keep improving my technique.

This was fun.  Loved the character interactions.   Battles were pretty simple once I picked up the trick, but did not take away from it at all since exploring was where the real fun was.

Developer

Hey, thanks for the feedback! Yeah, the interactions were where most of my focus was, so I’m glad they were a hit.

Game won’t launch for me. “RPGVXAce RTP is required to run this game.” :(

Developer

I’ll add the instructions for downloading the RTP to the game’s page. Weird that it says it though since all the required files are included in the download. 🤷🏼‍♂️I guess that’s just another reason to use the more modern RM engines.

This game feels like four friends going off on an adventure that's filled with witty humor and interestingly hilarious dialogues. While the combat is incredibly simplistic in nature, the writing of its characters makes up for it. The hilarity of the world really highlights the zaniness of the universe its at and Harold is captured in a goofy manner we all know and love.

Quite enjoyed this entry.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, Berry! I’m especially glad that you liked the writing because I had the most fun with that. Looks like I need to keep building those battle system muscles.
