For an unfinished game I think this had a great charm to it, reminds me more of the old Lucas Arts point and click games. The art looks very nice, voice acting is always nice in a game jam entry, and the music was pleasant.
I did see the issue where the narrator would speak past the text though, and it was a little confusing a but I managed to catch up by clicking ahead.
As for the minigame itself, the controls were easy to grasp and it wasn't incredibly janky. Though I'm honestly not sure I caught any fish, the hook or bait swinging also looks like a fish wriggling on the line. So if I were to make a suggestion, maybe differentiate between the hook and some of the fish a bit more visually.
Overall it painted a nice little idyllic picture. For being a single scene of a game it's pretty solid. Good work!
I really like the idea of a fishing game for this jam - really great idea. I wasn't able to catch any fish. I'm not sure I hooked any either - though some disappeared when they got close to the fishing line.
Ok so I went back and downloaded it directly from the itch.io game page as it wouldn't work from the app. Great job with the intro at the start although not sure about the Irish accent lol. (I'm Irish). Also, the music was too loud while the the narrator was speaking and also he talked ahead of the shown text unless I clicked to keep up.
The main game is like a single scene from a point and click graphical adventure (e.g. Monkey Island) and it is done very well. I managed several casts and I think I hooked a fish once or twice but I couldn't seem to land it. I guess this is the unfinished part.
Add another 50 scenes from Irish folklore and stitch them together with a plot and you have yourself a cool Graphical Adventure :).
Ana mhaith ar fad!
Thanks for the thoughtful feedback and high praise (Monkey Island? Wow!)
P.S. 1,000 apologies for the accents! We tried our best to be accurate, but voice actors we are not.
Yeah, sincere apologies for the accents, we tried our best but ended up being far from accurate. Thank you for your generous praise though!
Don't worry about the accents - they weren't that bad. They were a bit ropey but I still couldn't tell if ye were Irish or not LOL. One of you went very Scottish later on though. Great choice for the Jam as well - he was called Fionn MacCumhail when I was learning about him in school.
p.s. "An mhaith ar fad" means "very good indeed".
