Wow I adored the atmosphere of this game. Great work - my only issue was in my first playthrough Grendel's mother disappeared after I attacked her a few times and so I restarted and got to her again. This time in her second stage she ascended but there was no way for me to reach her to attack. But other than that minor issue it's a fantastic game.
Thank you so much! And I see, on the first instance that she disappeared I sincerelly have no idea what happened haha, but when she flies up you can damage her by deflecting her projectiles with your shield (hold down if you have at least one power up), although I did not communicate that correctly so indeed some people got lost on that part, I will post an updated version that makes that more clear. Thanks!
Very fun game! 5/5 Overall=) Great job in every aspect
The graphics are really cool, and especially the final boss design! I enjoyed the game, although it does get harder towards the end (which is actually fun). I also love how the music adds an element of urgency lol.
Thank you so much! Half of the development was on doing the music haha, cool to see someone appreciated it.
Definitely my favorite game I've played so far for this jam! You put in so much effort, polish, and even had enough time to add a second coat of wax. The game looked stunning and the monster sounds are haunting. Good difficulty balance, and I loved how the music kept adding more layers as you delved further.
Thank you so much! The layered music was actually one oft he hardest things to make. And im really glad you liked the art, I went for a Spectrum ZX kinda look, more for practicallity than anything.
I also am really glad it was you favorite at the time of commenting, makes me motivated on actually putting a more finished version after the Jam ends. Thanks!
Surprised to hear that about the music!! I really hope you add more and carry this game further, it is amazing!
Very well executed platformer. You packed a lot in in just a week! Controls respond perfectly, monsters are nicely varied and the level design is excellent!!
Weak point is the graphics and also it seems I was reasonably invulnerable to the enemies. I took a lot of hits and didn't die (I'm crap at platfomers :) )
Thank you very much! I rushed the game so I chose very simple graphics and focused most of the time on gameplay and music. And I could not find a nice balance for the difficulty, so it indeed seems to be too easy sometimes, but I will polish it after the jam has ended.
I liked the graphics and gameplay for this one. I couldn't figure out how to beat the boss at the end. I'm guessing I'm missing some control to attack upwards. I think you should put some screenshots up. I almost didn't play this one because I didn't see any. Good job overall.
Thank youfor commenting! The final boss needs the big sword that is on the left wall to be killed, I was going to write the story appearing in real time so it gives more context to the game and tells you about the giant sword, but I did not have time to put it in, after the jam I will polish it up.
And indeed I will post some screenshots, I rushed posting the game on the literal last 5 minutes of the jam.
