I am a programmer. Been doing it for 4 months, originally python on my own and then JavaScript and java with a bootcamp (github). I also can do art (insta) but I don't have much experience doing digital art or quite enough tools tbh. I contributed very messy digital art for my last game jam which was 48 hours (we spent more like about 20 working, it was not that serious). It took me ages to get used to the tools so it didn't turn out impressive haha. I also created the concept for that game and did the sound design (using free resources, not any great programming skill). That is the only game jam i've done so far. I've made games a long time ago with GameMaker but not much recently. More server and web-dev projects. I've started playing around with phaser.io in my spare time to distress from my other stuff and would like to use that to make a game. I chose this game jam because I love history, it's always been my favourite subject in school, and as an adult I still love history podcasts etc. I think it could be really fun! However, I think more can probably be achieved over a short period of time in a team.
So I am looking for (in no particular order):
- Another programmer with more specific game-dev experience (not crazy amounts, just more than me). We can do pair programming or split tasks, but there does need to be good communication.
- A composer/sound designer FILLED
- Perhaps someone with a much better digital art setup than me to be in charge of art. I would love to do this stuff but I just don't have the tools or the skills with non-analogue mediums.
I will happily also take on more general design/writing tasks because I enjoy that.
Anyone on the team should be willing to chat on discord and have regular meetings/hang out in rooms in a server so we can chat if and when required. I really value good teamwork/organisation/cooperation on a project. Especially with the other programmer, it's really vital we can talk to each other and share screens etc and have some sort of organisation.
