Thanks to all your support guys! Number 34 in peoples choice is so awesome! :D

The custom assets for this game are very cute and I appreciated the eye candy, that said, I'm not one who ignores bad stuff in a game just because it might look a bit pretty and while there wasn't anything extremely horrible in the game, there were a few things that did stick out as weird/annoying. The passability, for one, really got a bit annoying after a while, especially for the taller trees and things you should be able to walk behind. I also had issues with some of the writing but for the most part the game as alright.

I liked that I knew the prequel - it helped to give a bit more of a nostalgic feel to the game. The gameplay was pretty standard - run around, kill monsters, talk to friends - nothing exciting but nothing bad. It felt like a standard jRPG, which it pretty much is. Without the history built off the previous game, though, it's not as special (since you don't understand that you're undoing all of your sisters' hard work, for an example).

So I'm your secret santa reviewer! As per my typical review style I do a livereview that I type my reactions here and then summarize at the end!!

First off, god this animated title screen and music really set me up to expect a very professionally done game, I'm ready. The fist cutscene is nicely done, I already have a feeling for Elliot's character. The art and music is so whimsical it brings a smile to my eye. My inner child appreciates that you can examine everything! It's a bit weird I can't walk under that big tree but it looks cool still!! Can't really walk too close to the big wheelbarrow either, but that's just me being nitpicky. This is so damn cute omg.I love the couple? standing by the board while the village is on fire just standing around letting the kids know their master is being held captive lol. An option for a fighting tutorial??? WOAH!!! I actually enjoy the fighting system! I really enjoy the different skills, it feels like time was put into them all. I'm unsure if atlas isn't supposed to attack very much, but it makes the fight pretty easy.

In any other game, just getting all key items from boxes on the beach wouldn't fit, but this game is so cute and childlike in nature it just fits really well. I actually appreciate that these pillar bosses do get progressively harder, a nice touch. So just a heads up you can walk on top of the woman statue at atlas' place! The boss fight was actually difficult and I enjoyed the ending!

WOW!!!! Ok first off this is probably the most polished entry I've played on here. You are a serious contender for winning in my opinion...The art, the story... it fit the rating requirements that's for sure.  The only thing I can pick at is some of the tile possibility and that I'm unsure what the game could go on to do from here? But you have made an absolutely brilliant game that you should be proud of.

Wow! Thank you so much! Your kind words really are appreciated! I'm gonna be honest, I was having a very emotional night and reading this made me feel much better about everything. Thank you again for your feedback.

ATTENTION ALL WINDOWS 7 USERS:

If you have problems opening the file, please go into the zip file and change the name of the folder Starlight CB so it has no space in between and it should work fine.

There was a problem that was reported to be a file directory naming issue causing the game.exe not to open.

Thanks for playing it!

Very cute game, but it's a shame it's still using the TinierMe graphics. I was hoping they would have been removed before the competition. :/

me too. My artist didn’t finish in time.

I remember..I play this in last year. This is a side story from previous?

Developer

Hey, EmmaFM. This is a completely different version. Unfortunately my entry from last year, the files got corrupted and my backups were on my flashdrive which got stolen when I left it in one of my college classes. For this year, I decided to rework everything from scratch! :D

But the story, characters, graphics, and music have all changed pretty drastically. Its a completely different game and in my opinion, much better than last years.

Love the Style, it's got that sugary, over-embellished, give my that EXTRA syrup style. Yet holds true to the fantasy genre. Fantastic characters and dialog, beautiful battle-system. I can tell how many hours you have sunk into JRPGs you have a mastery of the discipline.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Looks great, I especially love the animated menu you use as the cover image. Totally wish I knew how to make something like that in SRPG Studio.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! The menu took a LOT of work... if you are familiar with RPG Maker MV, that menu is all evented. I hope you enjoyed it.

Submitted(+1)

Totally believe it! I'm not an artist so I'm sure the graphics took ages too. I actually haven't used MV but I'm glad to know you can do something like that with events. Means I should have no trouble figuring it out if I ever use the engine. When I have some free time I'll be sure to give this a go :)

Feel free to post feedback here! I'm always open to all types of feedback and I do take constructive criticism very well. Hope you enjoy the game!
