Okay finally getting around to rating some of the entries I have played. I really loved this one. I think this is the first game so far that I've rated 5 stars. I might be biased as I love management sims though, haha! Honestly this game I felt really hit all the checkmarks. The graphics were great, The UI was clean, and the music was incredibly relaxing. This game had IMO the best use of assets I have played so far. Everything blended so well. The gameplay was simple to understand, the font was easy to read, and the story was short and sweet and to the point.
I really cannot say anything negative about this game. It's honestly perfect in every way in terms of a game jam project. Overall this is a solid entry and definitely one to watch. You deserve way more ratings than you have.
If you get a chance and you haven't already, feel free to try FrameWork. Legends Untamed, my second entry that displays here, is not my main one.
You should feel very proud. Seriously, thank you so much for making this.

Hey, I’m so glad you responded! I was worried I was too harsh for a bit there. And I understand the work kicking your butt. Lol. I’m scheduled 7 days in a row this week. And Legends Untamed is not as tested as Framework is so keep an open mind about that. FrameWork is the one I clearly spent more time on.
I was very impressed with this one. I really liked the tactical battle system and for the most part the game was enjoyable. But there were a few negatives I found off-putting. I want to get those out of the way first, then I'll move on to the positives.
- I will say that I spent a few times resetting my save file because the monsters were randomly given to you and I kept getting trash. I got that rock thing given to you at the beginning not once but twice. Spent 150G to get 3 rocks. After resetting, I realized that I couldn't save right before I accessed the machine. Ouch. I really wish I was able to do this. This is a game I would prefer to have autosave turned off.
- At first I used the 3 rocks in the tournament and did fine. I won the first battle and finally got a new mon. I won the second battle. Then I faced Hunter and boy did I want to OWN him! Sadly, Hunter's ONE creature completely demolished my team. I did like 2 damage and then got dealt back 10 damage. At this point I reset the save file and started over.
- This next playthrough I realized that I could trade and battle the other characters. Why was this not brought up at the beginning? I saw that if you talk to the other characters in that first map before ending the day that they mention it but I was following robot guy's instructions and I didn't dilly dally too much. I spent about another 30-45 minutes grinding to get a creature I could use to KICK HUNTER'S BUTT! Alas, I had trouble accomplishing this task.
- I finally gave up and sadly couldn't get past Hunter.
Now I know this sounds discouraging but there are a lot of positives about this one too.
+ Good use of assets. The tiles, characters, and music flow really well.
+ The battle system was fun and easy to understand.
+ The characters and dialogue are well written and each character had different personalities. I especially liked you made a character like Hunter. I don't think I've ever wanted to punch a fictional videogame character more in my life.
+ The designs of the monsters were cute and funny.
+ I think you incorporated the theme really well.
Overall, I did enjoy this game but do think it needs more balancing and I think given the randomness of the machine, I think it needs a way to turn off autosave. (There actually might be a way in options but I didn't think to look...) Lastly I think it needs more direction. Like I mentioned, I didn't know you could trade and battle to get gold so at first I thought I was just stuck with what I got and had to use those in the tournament.
I think you did a great job on this. You worked hard to make something unique and it shows. Thank you for making this. :D
Are there any plans to post the results for each round of judging? I don’t know if everyone feels this way but I would personally prefer if we knew if our game made it to round 2 of judging. I think it would be obvious if each judge was streaming them but since that is up to the judge is there any way we can get updated when and if our games advance?
Also not sure if anyone has said so but thank you to all the organizers and judges of this jam. It’s been a lot of fun so far. 😁
I honestly really enjoyed this one. I thought the mechanics for this puzzle was incredibly unique and it fits the theme sooooo well!
I also really liked how the puzzles made me think about which character I needed to be and kinda forced me to plan ahead.
You did a really great job with this one. The art, the design, the mechanics, everything flowed so well!
If you get a chance, please feel free to play my entries. I developed Framework and Legends Untamed but if you had to choose, FrameWork is better as that is the one I spent more time on.
I really enjoyed this Caz! I will admit, I was a little confused what to do at first. The first minigame I thought I had to press the arrow keys in a certain order but I figured it out. Once I got in to town I wasn't sure what to do either at first but again figured it out quickly.
Side note: I loved the ending! That was hilarious where Phina found it. :D
I really liked this entry! I played it it in browser so maybe it was just because of that but I did have some slight lag but it didn't affect the overall experience too much.
1: The art style is adorable as always. Everything blends super well!
2: I really like this action RPG style mechanics.
3: I think you did a really cool mechanic with the sword absorbing different enemy essences and using their power. I loved that about this!
Overall, I think this is a strong contender!
So I got the chance to replay this... I have to say you did an amazing job with this! This new version is so much better!
- I love you added the tutorial in the beginning
- I love that you made the egg hatch each time you won. This was a great way to add a sense of accomplishment after each stage.
- I love that you added multiple endings. I definitely was not expecting that!
Hey, I'm down. Here's my entry: https://itch.io/jam/igmc-rebirth/rate/1612165
First, if you see this, friendly reminder to backup your project today :)
As the deadline draws near, I have something for EVERYONE to hear!! (No rhyme intended, I promise.)
1: As a general rule of thumb, try to prevent naming files in your project folder with special characters. Don’t even use underscores or dashes. Some computers can’t read these and sometimes it will cause deployment issues. Also sometimes even if it does deploy, it can cause issues for computers running different versions of Windows. I recommend this NamingConvention.
2: Do not, please DO NOT under any circumstances, deploy INTO your project folder! Doing so will corrupt your project's data and makes it incredibly difficult to fix.
3: Please be sure to backup often. Don't lose your hard earned work. If you haven't already done so and you are reading this, make a backup.
You think that’s bad? I started going crazy because this weird error started breaking my game randomly and I couldn’t figure out why. Took me like an hour to realize that it was trying to call upon a plug-in command script in a parallel event. I had accidentally turned OFF the plug-in in the list. I realized I either needed to take a break or drink more energy drink after that.
