Agree with Animamundi24 - it was a little difficult to figure out where to start the fire, and why there as oppose to anything else. I could also suggest some place that is particularly sunny with a ray of light coming down, so it's clear that's the spot for a magnifying lens to do it's thing..?
Good start on a puzzle for this kind of game.
...and I win!
Congratulations :)
In the past, I have played escape games where the only hint of a future fire's location is a discoloration of the sand set to a clickable location with the message "You could start a fire here," so I had not thought of making the fire location more prominent. However, I think it is a good idea and when the jam is over, I am definitely going to. I think I will place the log there and have the player gather some dry grass from the woods to use as fire starter.
Small and nice, i think it could be expanded with more and more missions. Remind me of those puzzle solving games where you pick certain objects to use later.
Keep on the good work.
I enjoyed playing, you should make more levels / games like this
Thanks. This is actually my second escape game. My first one was Frozen Key and I have a third game in the works I plan to return to someday.
Nice little game. Glad you added the walkthrough. Huge fan of point and click games, but as part of a game jam, I've realized they can be a little difficult for folks just trying to play as many as possible. (I honestly need to start adding cheat sheets for my own games too.) The art you used was great!
Hey,
point and click adventure games are my favorite games!
I loved the game.
I think it would be worth it to polish the game (make the inventory system work correctly, so you see which item is currently selected, the mouse cursor changes to the current item etc., every time the mouse moves over interactive objects it becomes the hand interact cursor, not only for some objects...), because it's a fun game.
A finished game, that is what i like to see!
I would suggest adding a clearer mark to a place where the fire should be placed. Maybe replace a wooden log with an axe (rammed into a tree), to cut a crate into a firewood to make a fire at.
Thanks. That might be a good idea. I even have an old ax asset from my other escape game. Maybe I will do that after the jam.
