I like the vignettes that make this up - nice little sketches of a character forming
I enjoyed how the story skips around and got the sense that the decisions I made would impact how my life turned out. Like everyone else mentioned the endings are abrupt and would benefit from better signalling that this game is meant to be replayed.
Liked the strange atmosphere and the dream logic of this. The sound worked well with the eerie tone, but maybe got a but repetitive after a while. Really liked the use of alternate text in the job application email
very unsettling and strange atmosphere which I think worked well for the intrigue.
Like the comments below, I hit unexpected ends, and I had trouble connecting that the sequences seemed to be related/chronoligically skipped; I thought at first I'd hit a bug or clicked on the wrong option, but then I got it on replays.
Replaying it to try over (and some different options), I was a little disoriented by the card game, and I wondered if it had any effect on the gameplay. (I wasn't sure?)
I found myself expecting some kind of grisly end to the paths! I think I was driven by hoping to see what might happen by the end.
PS. I myself had a bit of trouble reading as the game loaded text due to the scrolling/animating lines.
Same comment. Wasn't sure if I hit a bug or the end. Started thinking it was intentional given the game description.
Since this is my first game jam, I don't where (or if) people find time to play test stuff to sort out things like this. But in addition to enjoying playing your game, I also appreciate learning from it.
Now that I know, I'm going to go back and try for the whole. Thanks!
Yeah, I was also getting interested in the story but it hung on a bug--for me it was "This is not kindergarten anymore"
That's the actual ending of that path! If you press restart you can try the other ones, they are all pretty short, but make more sense as a whole
Oh! Good to know. Would help to have a "The End."
I'll be sure to fix that as soon as evaluation phase is over!
Ran into a freeze right at "Yes mom, I have to keep trying" (red text) or something similar, which is too bad since it seemed like the story was just picking up. The text was very small on my Mac, but after zooming I was able to read. Apart from the technical issues, I get a feeling that there's something real here.
That's the end of that thread actually! Guess I should have signaled the ends somehow, the other commenter had the same issue. Thanks for trying it
